Jaclyn Hill Responds To Lipstick Line Scandal, But Fans Think She’s Lying

By  |

Last week, YouTuber Jaclyn Hill came under fire when customers of her new brand, Jaclyn Cosmetics, were extremely dissatisfied with the lipsticks they received in the mail. Customers were complaining that their products had arrived broken, melted, covered in hairs, lumpy and smelling bad. At the time, Jaclyn hadn’t publicly addressed the scandal, other than replying to a couple of tweets in a super defensive manner. Over the weekend, the beauty mogul took to Twitter to attempt to clarify the situation.

The first tweet Jaclyn wrote read: “My team and I are working very hard on finding out EXACTLY what is causing the “grittiness & bumpy texture” on some of my lipsticks. I am so sorry to see some of you dissatisfied with my product. I will make it right for you & learn from this mistake! That’s a promise.” She then addressed a tweet she sent and has since deleted to a fan who received a faulty lipstick. “Also, I have apologized to the first girl who tweeted me about her lipstick not being perfect. I reacted very unprofessionally & that’s never my intention. I always want you guys to be comfortable sharing your concerns with me.”

This is the unprofessional tweet she’s referring to.

Fellow YouTuber RawBeautyKristi uploaded a detailed review of her Jaclyn Hill lipstick collection (which she purchased) on Saturday that shows the products covered in hair, marks and also little holes. She then shared this photo on Twitter.

Jaclyn quoted Kristi’s tweet and claimed that the hairs on the lipsticks came from the gloves used in her factory and that they were not actual hairs as people have been suggesting.

Jaclyn’s tweet claimed that her factory switched to rubber gloves “two days ago,” however one Twitter user found older photos of Jaclyn swatching her lipsticks in her factory and she is in fact… wearing blue rubber gloves.

Jaclyn hasn’t commented on the other problems that have been reported in the lipsticks, such as some of them arriving melted, broken, and smelling badly. RawBeautyKristi’s theory is that the product was manufactured well over a year ago and has been sitting in the warehouse since its recent release. This makes the most sense, seeing as Jaclyn announced her divorce from her ex, Jon Hill, last year and redesigned her brand to be just Jaclyn Cosmetics rather than Jaclyn Hill. The components, however, still have a JH stamp on the side. Some beauty reviewers are saying that they’ve got ~the receipts~ that show the product is expired.
