When Tom Holland and his Spider-Man: Far From Home co-stars, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, visited Disney California Adventure Park, he shared a cool photo of the three of them having a blast. But then fans quickly noticed that Tom tagged Zendaya's name on his crotch... which of course, led to dating rumors and a brand new ship name: "Tomdaya." But while fans took this to be a sexual innuendo, Zendaya laughed it off and commented: "I'm assuming because you don't know how to work IG, that's the reasoning behind my name placement." And he replied: "Very much so." Whoops!
The awkwardness here was so palpable. But in all honestly, Kanye is all of us when our friends bump into people that we don't know. Especially when those people don't bother to acknowledge our presence. As Kim casually got through her interview with a reporter from Vogue, a slightly restless Kanye struggled to pay attention and looked elsewhere nearly the entire time. We feel your pain, Kanye...
As he accepted his Grammy award for Best Rap Song for "God's Plan," Drake seized the opportunity to also throw shade at the Grammys by claiming that it's not that important. He said: "Look, if there's people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain and snow, spending money to buy tickets to your shows, you don't need this right here. You already won." So of course, the network thought it would be fitting to cut off Drake's speech and go to commercial before he was done. Looks like they didn't take his comments too well...
Who could forget Cardi B's meme-worthy reaction when Variety's reporter asked: "Ever a chance that you and Nicki would make up and perform together?" What followed was the most awkward silence and a forced smile from Cardi, who simply stared back at him. When he laughed and tried to ease the awkwardness by repeating her catchphrase "okurrr," she let out a slow laugh and continued to smile, making it clear that a performance with Nicki Minaj was very unlikely. Several months after their publicized feud began, it looks like these two aren't even close to making up.
When ESPN shared a clip of Beyoncé looking annoyed as Nicole Curran leaned in to speak to Jay-Z, the Beyhive were quick to come to her defense. The R&B sensation never actually confirmed whether she had an issue with Nicole, but in the viral video, her facial expressions seemed to say it all. From the looks of it, Nicole was making her very uncomfortable by boxing her in. But fans took this way too far when they started bullying Nicole and sending death threats on social media. Regarding the interaction, Nicole explained: "There was no hostility. I was trying to be a good hostess." Even Beyoncé's publicist had to come out and encourage fans to not "spew hate in her name."
Considering how badly she bombed as a host at the ceremony, it's safe to say that Joanna's scriptwriter failed her. One of her lowest and most cringe-worthy moments, however, was when she boldly joked about the Ku Klux Klan in her opening monologue. After mentioning Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, she mentioned that she was "surprised it did so well at the Klan film festival" and the silence afterwards was so awkward. When she noticed the lack of response, she casually tried to move on, saying "yes, alright" and we couldn't help but cringe. In all honestly, though, this incident alone is reason enough to get her scriptwriter fired.
When model Ashley Graham casually asked Jason Momoa to do a haka move for her on the red carpet, Lisa Bonet looked super offended and quickly shut her down, saying "no that’s unnecessary." The entire exchange was super disturbing to watch, especially since Ashley persisted by trying to perform it herself, as if it were a cool new dance move. Perhaps she needs to be reminded that it's not okay to ask people of color to act out their culture for the sake of entertainment... This was just disrespectful, ignorant, and straight-up embarrassing.
When Rami and his Bohemian Rhapsody co-stars got on stage to receive their award for Best Motion Picture, Rami could clearly be seen trying to get Nicole Kidman's attention multiple times. As she presented the award, Rami tried to talk to her and she turned her back to him. Even when he put his hand on her back, she didn't acknowledge that he was there. Um... Yikes.
When Rami got to see a playback of what really happened, he said: "I had not seen that. I've known her for many years, despite as it may seem from that video, so I thought I could easily go up and say hi." Thankfully, it all turned out to be a misunderstanding that both of them laughed off. Still, that moment was pretty awkward.
That cringe-worthy encounter with Nicole Kidman wasn't the only awkward moment that Rami had. After he accepted his award for Best Actor at the Academy Awards, he accidentally slipped while he was trying to get off the stage and paramedics had to rush to his aid. Thankfully, he wasn't hurt and his Oscar remained in one piece. But of course, comedian Chelsea Peretti couldn't let all this slide without posting a pic of his unfortunate fall. She shared the above photo and captioned it: "most important moment for me personally." LOL!
After the actress talked about the third season of her show, This Is Us, on the red carpet, Missi Pyle and AJ Gibson introduced Alison Brie and the camera panned away to her. But at that moment, Chrissy was heard uttering a comment that sounded a lot like "she’s such a bitch." She seemed to think that her microphone was already off when she made that comment, and AJ initially thought he heard her say "she's such a babe." When Chrissy caught wind of this, she denied ever saying it and tweeted: "I adore Alison and would never say a bad word about her, or anyone! I sure hope she knows my heart." Well hey, perhaps it was just tricky audio, except this time, it was Babe vs. Bitch and not Laurel vs. Yanny?
To celebrate her friend's birthday, Kylie actually threw a Handmaid's Tale party, which included Gilead flags, red cloaks, and beverage options like "Praise Be vodka" and "Under His Eyes tequila." Considering how the series happens in a time when women's rights are stripped and they're forced to live under an oppressive patriarchy, it's understandable why this caused major Internet backlash. The gesture was beyond disturbing and, as Bradley Whitford put it, "tacky." He explained: "You know, that costume is so kind of iconic, and it’s interesting how it’s changed from initially a sort of symbol of oppression, to now, as the show is moving ahead to a symbol of resistance. So, yeah, cocktail party seems to sort of dash all that significance."
As Awkwafina and John Mulaney stood on stage together to present an award at the Oscars, they discussed who they were most excited about meeting. Awkwafina proudly said "Spike Lee," and we're guessing that she expected him to gush with pride or at least crack a smile. But instead, as the camera went to Spike Lee, he was seen peering back at her with the most confused expression on his face. The photo you're seeing here is Awkwafina's reaction and... we honestly felt some second-hand embarrassment because YIKES.
We're guessing that these three were either super nervous or not prepared to accept this award at all. Kate Biscoe, Patricia Dehaney, and Greg Cannom wound up giving a thank you speech that was oh so painful to watch. The three fumbled through the entire thing, trying to figure out who should read what, whispering amongst themselves and struggling to organize their statements in the process. Plus, the music started playing before they were done. We have no doubt that these guys deserved this win for their hard work, but after this disaster, they're also top contenders for "Worst Thank You Speech Ever."
After Khloé and her sisters, Kourtney and Kim, chatted with Jimmy about Kim's pregnancy and Kourtney's upcoming birthday, he turned to Khloé and said: "I do want to ask about this character you had a baby with." Things immediately got awkward from that point on, as a mildly surprised Khloé responded with "Who, me?" Jimmy then said: "Yes. Is it time to stop dating basketball players?" It certainly wasn't the question that Khloé was expecting, but she shrugged and said "I don't know. I like what I like. What can I say." Oh man...
While hosting the Golden Globes, Sandra Oh threw some shade at Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson, both of whom were cast in Asian roles at one point. To shed some light on Hollywood's history of whitewashing, she said: Crazy Rich Asians is the first studio film with an Asian American lead since Ghost in the Shell and Aloha. And from the audience, Emma could be heard yelling "I'm sorry!"
It looks like from now on, Emma will think twice before taking on roles that are meant for people of color. She said: "I’ve learned on a macro level about the insane history of whitewashing in Hollywood and how prevalent the problem truly is. It’s ignited a conversation that’s very important."
The DJ revealed during an interview that he live-streamed Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner's wedding because... he didn't realize it was legitimate. He said: "I didn’t know it was a serious wedding! I really didn’t know what was going on. I was hanging out with him after the Billboard Awards, I was just hanging out with him like, 'This is crazy, dude. Let me record this.'" Joe and Sophie even called him out (in jest) for broadcasting the ceremony to his followers, but what we find odd is that he didn't even realize that their "I do's" were real.
When Cardi B joined James Corden for Carpool Karaoke, she got to perform her song "I Like It" at a senior center. It's safe to say that she started a party, and while everyone danced, she caught one particular senior's eye. While dancing with Cardi, Gunter asked "Are you looking for a significant other? Are you available?" Unfortunately for him, the rapper was dating Offset at the time.
Well now we know that Biebs was only kidding around, as most fans suspected. But for a second there, many were convinced that he really meant business. When he spoke with TMZ, however, he admitted that it was only a joke. He said: "I don’t know him. He's tight. The story is I saw an interview with him, and he was just on my mind. It was just a random tweet. I do that stuff sometimes." He also added that Tom would most likely "whoop my ass in a fight." And yes, we whole-heartedly agree on that.
James pulled the ultimate prank on soccer player David Beckham, who was visiting Los Angeles for the unveiling of his statue. Since he had never seen the real thing, James decided to hire a crew to create a super ugly version, which would feature a giant chin and a big butt. It took James two months to orchestrate the whole thing and when David finally saw the awful statue, he struggled to keep his cool.
He said: "It doesn't really look nothing like me. I mean, look at my eyes. The only thing that's good is that hair and that's about it. I really don't see how this can go out. Look how long my arms are. I honestly look like Stretch Armstrong." After this, the statue was "accidentally" knocked over and smashed into pieces, but before things could escalate any further, James came out and revealed the whole thing was a prank. It was hilarious for sure, but seeing David about to lose his cool was pretty wild.
