There's nothing that we love more than seeing famous couples get their happily ever after. Newlyweds Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus are as adorable as ever, and musical legends Jay-Z and Beyoncé have proven to us all that love truly does conquer all (even a publicized cheating scandal). But while dating another star can be glamorous, what most of us don't see are the drawbacks that come with constantly being in the spotlight. Fans feel entitled to every single detail of celebrity relationships and so privacy becomes more of a luxury. Plus, there's the sad fact that onlookers are eager to spread hurtful rumors for the sake of drama. So whenever a celebrity steps up and admits that they prefer not to date another famous person... we can definitely see why.
Of course, this isn't to say that celebrities who date non-famous people have zero problems whatsoever. When it comes to any relationship, people are bound to run into their fair share of challenges, no matter what their occupation or social status. But still, it's safe to say that dating a normal person is a lot less stressful than dating a star - especially if you're already in the limelight. See which celebrities have admitted to not wanting a relationship with other famous people.
Back in 2011, the "Hello" singer admitted that while she definitely had celebrity crushes, she wouldn't seriously consider a relationship with any of them. She said: "I've been on a few dates with celebrities but I don't like it. You go out and everyone looks at you both. I'm not going to say who. We go to really established places that know how to keep their f*cking mouths shut. But then, everyone wants to f*ck a celebrity so I wouldn't trust them."
Surely enough, the soulful singer ended up marrying Drop4Drop CEO Simon Konecki. The two now have an adorable son named Angelo Adkins.
Understandably, the actress didn't want her personal romance to be made public and she didn't want it to interfere with her job in any way. So she and her Big Bang Theory co-star, Johnny Galecki, agreed to keep it the down low. However, this took a toll on them both and as a result, Kaley mentioned that she'd prefer to not date other actors again.
She explained: "[Johnny and I] were so protective of ourselves and the show and didn’t want anything to ruin that. But that also made it sad, too. That’s not the kind of relationship I want — I don’t want to be hiding. We couldn’t do anything. It wasn’t as fun as we wanted it to be. Everyone was always asking, and we deny-deny-denied. And I’m like, 'Why am I denying this person that I love?' It took a little bit of a toll on me and I think it did for him, too..."
The singer, who is now a mother of two, has definitely dated men in the industry. But after splitting up with Jorge Santos and divorcing marketing executive Jordan Bratman, she pretty much swore off of dating famous men.

She also said that she's had opportunities to date other celebs before, but she admitted: "It isn’t my style to date another person in the business." As of now, she's engaged to her longtime partner, Matthew Rutler.
Daniel has been in a long-term relationship with actress Erin Darke since 2013. But six years before he started dating her, he once shared that he would never date someone else in the industry. He said: “I think it would be very hard to go out with an actress, because they’re mad. Some actresses are just insane. I’ve never worked with a nasty actress – they’re all absolutely delightful. But completely barking.”
However, he had a change of heart when he met Erin on the set of How to Kill Your Darlings. Regarding their intimate scene, he said: "That's a wonderful record of us flirting for the first time. There's no acting going on - not from my end, anyway. There's a moment when she makes me laugh, and I'm laughing as me and not as my character. She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble."
In a 2010 interview, the singer made it clear that she didn't intend to date any famous men. She said: "When you mix a man who has popularity, who has money, who has b*tches, that’s a scary thing for me. It doesn’t speak to my insecurities, it’s just not the type of man that I want and I think I’m not the type of girl they want."
So understandably, people were a bit surprised to see her dating famous athlete, Ricardo Lockette. However, she explained: "I thought I found someone who’s also an exception. It wasn’t 'enthralling' for me to date an athlete. It was on my list of not to dos' — no rappers, no actors and no ball players. I broke my rule because I thought I found someone different." Unfortunately, the two split in 2017.
In a 2015 interview, the Pretty Little Liars star revealed that a relationship with another celebrity might be a bit too much for her to handle because of the added spotlight. She said: "I don't think I would be able to date a high-profile actor the way Angelina Jolie has. Her and Brad have done a good job at keeping private, but I'm sure that takes work. It's too much attention when two powerful people are together." Still, Ashley was recently linked model and actress Cara Delevingne, so it seems like she's definitely willing to take the risk.
The Harry Potter star clearly stated in one interview, “I don't date people who are famous.” But she also noted that there's a downside to dating men who aren't famous as well. She added: "I don't think it's fair that, all of a sudden, intimate details of their personal life are public as a direct result of me. I wish I could protect them."
She definitely raised a valid point - having both famous and non-famous partners can be a challenge. However, the actress did date Glee star Chord Overstreet for a short time in 2018. As of now, she's in a relationship with tech CEO, Brendan Wallace.

I attend the openings of films I'm in, but that's about it."
This might explain why she's now happily married to former Director of Grupo Televisa, José Bastón, who isn't considered a celebrity and doesn't have much of an online presence. The two welcomed their first child, Santiago Enrique, in 2018.
In one of her interviews, the Riverdale actress was quoted saying: "I realize that I don't think I like actors. Actors are really emotionally complicated. You would think they would be more in tune with their emotions, but sometimes they're just not. I just really need to get out of this industry with someone who is in a stable environment."
At the time, she was dating Victor Houston, who wasn't in the industry. But shortly after their split, she started dating her co-star, Charles Melton, so it looks like she had a change of heart. The two actors are still together and more adorable than ever.
Margot once revealed: "I made a conscious decision not to date actors, but not because I hate actors. That's a nasty generalization to make, and that's not the case. People take such an interest in your love life when you have a profile that it puts a lot of stress on a relationship. So, two people with profiles, I figure it's just double the amount of scrutiny, and I'd like to avoid that at all costs." But interestingly enough, she did date Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård at one point.
As of now, she's happily married to director Tom Ackerley. She gushed: “Being married is actually the most fun ever, life got way more fun somehow.”
The actress has been very open about preferring to stay in the shadows, and so it comes as no surprise that she has always avoided dating other famous people. She said: “It just puts a magnifying glass on you. If you want to be really famous, then date another famous person. But the fame is not the part of my life that I am excited about.”

She's definitely got a lot of eyes on her anyways now, dating convicted rapist Kenneth Petty and all...
The reality star was married to actor Eddie Cibrian for nearly a decade, but then they divorced in 2010. Four years after they split, she expressed that she was swearing off all famous men because those kinds of relationships never worked out.
Brandi said: "It doesn’t ever seem to end well for me, and it’s usually more about them and their ego. There’s a lot of ego stroking and other stroking that you have to do... it’s really hard to see the person you love on TV making out with another person. So no more actors for me and no more athletes because there are just too many options for them. They could have any girl that they want — and they have them all."
Shortly after the athlete broke up with singer K. Michelle, he took to Twitter and announced that he was no longer interested in dating famous people. Keke has always been pretty transparent about how tough it is to date as a celebrity. Though she has mentioned that dating normal people has its disadvantages, she also pointed out that dating other stars can be a real struggle.
She said: “Dating is terrible for me. When I tell you dating is terrible, it’s so terrible because, like, there are times where it will be industry situations and I can tell that the guy is more excited about my career than I am. I’ve dated guys in the industry that are like, ‘I can’t wait until you do a movie like Catwoman and movies like that,’ and I’m like, ‘Are you good? Because I don’t like you getting turned on by where my movie career is going!'”

In response, he said: “I’m seeing a rapper,” and Amber clearly wasn’t excited about it. She said: “I don’t want to date a rapper anymore! Get them away from me!” LOL.
Only months before she started dating her fiance, Joe Jonas, the actress actually shared that she wouldn't date someone else in the industry because it would be too hard.
She explained: "I think that’s quite a conscious decision because the lifestyles wouldn’t work. This profession is so different to any other; the going away for long amounts of time – I think it would just be really difficult. If you meet on a job, it’s amazing. You have five months together and it’s incredible. Then, once it’s over, suddenly one of you is shooting in Australia and the other one is shooting in Spain, and you never know when you’re going to see each other again, but at least you both understand it." Hmmm... Here's hoping this never happens with Joe.
In 2009, Ashley admitted that she definitely had a few celebrity crushes, including Robert Pattinson and Jake Gyllenhaal. He once shared: "A few years ago, the minute I went, OK, let me try some of this Tinsel Town, it was literally 102 temperature, a big premiere I was supposed to go to, and she said, 'What are we doing? I have my dress, there's going to be a camera crew following me and what I've accomplished....' I was like, 'If you want to go, go ahead and just don't come back.'"
The famous DJ has been with singers like Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding, but he shared in an interview that he has no interest in dating more women who are already in the public eye. He actually said: "I don't like celebrity women." But then he went on to date none other than one of the most famous and influential singers out there: Taylor Swift.
After that breakup, he reportedly repeated that he was never dating another celebrity again (we'll see about that...). But these days, he's dating a model named Aarika Wolf.
