Ariana Grande Says She’s “F—ed Up” After Making Joke About JonBenét Ramsey
Ariana Grande is apologizing for an insensitive comment she left on her BFF Doug Middlebrook‘s Instagram, a comment that she’s now deleted. She’s been friends with the social media influencer for years and he’s the voice of the opening intro of “In My Head.”
It all started when Doug posted a photo of the cover of Globe announcing that there’s been an arrest in the JonBenét Ramsey case. He wrote the caption, “no one has done more covers.” Ari responded saying, “i can’t WAIT for this to be your halloween look,” to which he replied he was “working on it already.”
Almost instantly the comments were flooded with people criticizing Doug and Ariana for making jokes about a child’s brutal murder. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the JonBenét Ramsey case, the six-year-old child pageant star was brutally murdered in 1996 in her Colorado home and has been the subject of various true crime documentaries, docuseries, and conspiracy theories.
Ariana realized the joke was in poor taste and wrote on Twitter saying she, “understand[s] that it’s not at all funny.”
@ivanmoratroya yeah no i deleted it very quickly and understand that it’s not at all funny. this was out of pocket and i sincerely apologize.

Though most fans quickly accepted her apology, others responded saying she didn’t ~really~ delete it very quickly and that the comment was up for nearly 24-hours. Others defended the “Dangerous Woman” singer saying she probably forgot she even posted the comment until she read the backlash. She also tweeted and deleted a more vulnerable apology where she said, “sorry i’m so f*cked up. dark jokes are a coping mechanism for me and yet i hate when other people make them.” You can read the whole comment below:
Everyone makes mistakes and hopefully Ari has really learned from this one. We’re all kind of f*cked up, after all.
