Actress Ashleigh Murray has opened up about the racism she experienced while she starred on the CW show Riverdale. Ashleigh, who played Josie McCoy on the hit show, tweeted in support of 13 Reasons Why star Grace Saif who deleted her Instagram account after the influx of hate she received since the latest season of the Netflix show aired.

“People have literally called me a monkey, trash, sloppy, classless darkie and told me to jump in an oven because….Josie kissed Archie. So, yeah, don’t blame her,” is what Josie tweeted in response to a tweet revealing Grace deleted her Instagram account.

Ashleigh played Josie McCoy on Riverdale, who was one of the main characters on seasons one to four of the show. Her character was known for being one of the first love interests of Archie Andrews, one of the male protagonists on the show who is played by Australian actor KJ Apa.

Fans of Ashleigh and the CW show have responded to her tweet in support, expressing their anger at fans who can’t separate the TV show from the real people who play its characters.

Ashleigh will not appear in the upcoming season of Riverdale as she will co-star in the new CW show Katy Keene, which was created by Riverdale creator/executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
