Ashleigh played Josie McCoy on Riverdale, who was one of the main characters on seasons one to four of the show. Her character was known for being one of the first love interests of Archie Andrews, one of the male protagonists on the show who is played by Australian actor KJ Apa.
Fans of Ashleigh and the CW show have responded to her tweet in support, expressing their anger at fans who can’t separate the TV show from the real people who play its characters.
it’s really sad but mostly stupid that some people can’t tell the differences between an actor and a character.. you guys aren’t in full control of what you say or do.. you just follow the script.. It’s not that hard for someone to understand it.. Sad just sad

i want to say something about how it’s pathetic that people can’t separate characters from their actors, but that’s only part of the problem, because these people saying this shit about character, even if it’s not on your pages, is still vile.

Even framing it as as “they didn’t like her character” is bullshit. She could’ve been the greatest character ever written and they still would’ve found reasons to hate her and send hate to her- we’ve seen it time and time again with Black actresses esp in the age of social media.

Ashleigh will not appear in the upcoming season of Riverdale as she will co-star in the new CW show Katy Keene, which was created by Riverdale creator/executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
