Camila Cabello Pleads With Fans To Stop Hating On Her Ex Following Their Split
Camila Cabello has split from her relationship coach boyfriend Matthew Hussey after dating for just over a year. The news broke shortly after the raunchy music video for Camila and Shawn Mendes’s new song “Señorita” was released and although we don’t know if the breakup had anything to do with Camila and Shawn’s relationship, or how things ended between the singer and her British ex, she’s still pleading with her fans to leave him alone.
The 22-year-old took to Instagram Stories last night to ask her fans to be “kind, compassionate, sensitive, and respective” towards her ex, although she did not name him, and to delete any mean comments they have written about the 32-year-old Brit online. She wrote:
“To my fans, if you really love me, please do not send people I love and care about hateful things. You doing that really hurts me, and it’s so unnecessary and heavy and damaging to add more pain to pain. There’s a real person behind your tweets. You spamming them with hateful, insensitive things is really not funny, is causing all of us pain, and doesn’t all reflect the values I talk about.
Please be kind and compassionate and sensitive and respectful. I know you love me, but anyone that’s doing that is really not even respecting the sacred things in my life. The people I love and care about is one of them. I would really appreciate it if you would delete any mean comments you’ve sent, and please be kind by leaving it alone.”
Although she never names Matthew in her statement, Camila is likely referring to the numerous tweets and Instagram comments that are being left under his posts about her and Shawn’s steamy new music video, and also telling him to stream “Señorita.” This is the first time the singer has addressed the breakup, with E! reporting that the couple was last spotted out together in May.
BTW, the translation for the last comment says, “Camren [the pairing between Camila and Shawn] is the most perfect thing in this world, right?” How f***ed up is that?
Aside from the emotional post, Camila seems to be distracting herself by promoting her new single and promising her fans that new music is coming soon. Oh, we LOVE a good post-breakup album.
