Whatever happened between Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez we may never know. The two were BFFs starting as tots on Barney & Friends and through their reign on the Disney Channel. Selena and Demi held their parts on Wizards of Waverly Place and Sonny With A Chance, respectively, and even teamed up for the Disney Channel Original Movie, Princess Protection Program. Somewhere down the line, though, the two drifted apart. While Dems confirmed to Complex that the two were *not* talking anymore in 2015, she didn’t say why. Earlier, in 2010, when a fan asked Demi how Selena was doing, she said “ask Taylor,” referring to Taylor Swift, Selena’s new BFF.

That same year, Demi told Girl’s Life, “True friends don’t let their friends or family be mean to you. If you can’t trust somebody, you can’t be friends with them.”

That quote is exceedingly relevant today. Although the two briefly reunited for a photo in 2018, it’s pretty clear that they aren’t buddy-buddy anymore, and now that Demi is working with Scooter Braun, with whom Taylor is feuding with, and hanging out with Justin Bieber, who “was abusive” towards Selena, it’s pretty clear that SelGo “can’t be friends with” Demi if the former quote is true.

Last night, the “Body Say” singer was photographed rolling up to Beverly Hills’ Saban Theatre accompanied by Justin, his now-wife Hailey Bieber and the music mogul who, as his friend says (and he reposted), “bought Taylor Swift.”

Naturally, Selena fans had something to say — as did Swifties.

But mostly, people are arguing “who dropped who” when it comes to Selena and Demi’s friendship.

Demi’s outing with J.B., Hailey, and Scooter comes after Lovatics thought Taylor shaded their queen during a Billboard speech. More recently, Selena opened up about how her new era is free from “abuse” and how happy Taylor and her mom are for that. It looks like Demi can’t relate.
