Demi Lovato Expected to Leave Hospital This Week & Go to Rehab
As fans continue to worry, support, and speculate about Demi Lovato‘s health, we’ve got a positive update about her recovery. After it was reported that the “Tell Me You Love Me” singer had been experiencing complications, including “nausea, vomiting and a high fever,” many were worried that her health had taken a turn for the worst. However, now TMZ reports that Demi, who was hospitalized in July after a drug overdose, is expected to leave the hospital later this week.
Though Demi is reportedly doing a lot better, insiders say her team is making plans to send her to rehab immediately after she’s discharged from the hospital. But many suspect Demi will object to treatment, as she allegedly refused to enter rehab months before her apparent overdose. If she declines rehab, those in her inner circle are prepared to cut ties with her.
“She could die if she doesn’t [enter rehab], and that’s not going to be on my watch that we did nothing,” a source told TMZ, adding that the 25-year-old has a big decision to make.
Sources say Demi spiraled out of control months ago and refused help, which is why everyone is nervous she might refuse treatment again. Apparently, her overdose was the result of a failed intervention attempt planned by her friends and team. She tried to make it seem like everything was okay and that she had her relapse under control, but her overdose proved otherwise.
“She pushed away everyone that tried to call her out or help her including sober coaches, friends, and management,” an insider told Entertainment Tonight after her relapse. “The trouble is that Demi has been more successful than ever, and everyone wants a piece. It becomes this perfect storm. She pushed away all the people who are there to protect.”
However, since Demi was so scared for her life after the overdose and complications this time, her loved ones still have hope that she’ll agree to check herself into rehab. It’s too soon to tell what will happen next, but we’re glad to hear that she’s in the clear health-wise. It also helps that her family and her ex-boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, have been by her side during her hospitalization.
Ultimately, it’s Demi’s decision to make, but this wouldn’t be the first time her team has threatened to leave her. In Demi’s YouTube documentary, Simply Complicated, she explained how her manager and life coaches gave her an ultimatum back in 2010, too. They made her give up her phone – which is what they believed was the cause of all her darkness – and she eventually recovered. It certainly seems like history is repeating itself, and we really hope that Demi decides to seek help again.
