Dove Cameron Shares Emotional Video Reacting To Cameron Boyce’s Death
Cameron Boyce’s Descendants co-star Dove Cameron has broken her silence on the death of her friend in a series of emotional videos posted to her Instagram page last night. The actress uploaded six videos in which she addresses the death of 20-year-old Cameron, who passed away last weekend, by reading a letter detailing her feelings over the last three days.
Dove began her video by saying: “The last 72 hours have felt like two weeks, and I’ve spent them trying to make my thoughts and feelings into words that might communicate about anything I’m feeling.” She then broke down while addressing Cameron’s family, saying: “You are all I can think about. My heart aches for you, I’m broken for you. I have close to nothing left, which tells me some small percentage about how you must be feeling. I’m so sorry.”
23-year-old Dove worked closely with Cameron on the Disney Descendants movie trilogy during which they formed a strong friendship. In her letter, the star spoke about her relationship with the late actor that began when he was just 14 years of age. “Cameron was one of my favorite people alive in the world, though I know that’s not unique to me. Cameron was magic — an earth angel. Over the last six years, since he was only 14, Cameron talked me down from countless ledges, talked me through eating disorders, helped me out of a dark relationship, and through endless breakdowns.”
Finally, she used the Instagram videos to bid farewell to her friend and finished her statement with:
“Goodbye my dear, dear friend and brother. You leave behind a colossal wake, a profound chasm that can never be filled, but you also leave millions and millions of deeply impacted, hope-filled and loved-filled human beings who are who they are because of you, and how you spent your brief 20 years on this earth. What a gift you were, you turned the world on its head. We can all only hope to be half of the human that you were and you deserved so much more time. Goodbye to an earth angel. I will spend the rest of my life missing and loving you, and I’m all the better for knowing you.”
Celebrities commented on Dove’s emotional post to express their condolences and also praise the young actress for her kind words. Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch commented: “This is so beautiful dove, sending you all my love in this moment,” while singer Madison Beer wrote: “love you millions. beautifully said.”
Cameron Boyce died last Saturday from what his family has confirmed was a seizure as a result of the actor’s ongoing battle with epilepsy. In a statement to People, the 20-year-old’s family said: “We are still trying to navigate our way through this extremely heart-wrenching time, and continue to ask for privacy so that the family and all who knew and loved him can grieve his loss and make arrangements for his funeral — which in and of itself, is agonizing.”
