Ellie Goulding is Engaged & She Announced the News in a Super Cute (& Traditional) Way
It’s official: Ellie Goulding is getting married! According to People, Ellie and boyfriend Caspar Jopling are engaged, and the way they announced the big news with the world is definitely different than the way most people share that kind of update with their loved ones.
Getting engaged in 2018 usually involves a social media post of some kind… and you’ve probably seen a hundred of them come across your Facebook and Instagram feeds. They usually involve a close up photo of the ring, and some kind of caption indicating that your friend did, in fact, say yes — duh, why else would she have the ring on her finger? But Ellie took a more old fashioned approach, instead sharing the news as an announcement in the newspaper, just like people used to do every time there was an engagement or marriage in the family.
“The engagement is announced between Caspar, son of The Hon Nicholas Jopling of Yorkshire and Mrs. Jayne Warde-Aldam of Yorkshire, and Elena, daughter of Mr. Arthur Goulding of Herefordshire and Mrs. Tracey Sumner of West Midlands,” the announcement said, which People reports appeared in UK newspaper The Times.
There’s something so charming about revealing the information like that for people (or in this case, People) to find out on their own. The formality of it is special, which it should be considering, you know, getting engaged is one of the most special events someone will experience in their lifetime.
So far, Ellie has yet to open up about the engagement online herself, but hopefully, that’s coming. We’d love to see her ring and hear about his proposal! After 18 months, it’s no surprise that she and Caspar are planning to tie the knot, but fans will definitely want all the details… especially where their thoughts on a wedding so far are concerned.
In case you’re unfamiliar with Caspar — who is little less famous than his future wife — here’s what you need to know. According to The Sun, Caspar is an art dealer who works with Contemporary Art and lives in New York City…. and they added that the couple hoped this kind of announcement would buy them some time to enjoy this new chapter in their lives without dealing with a media circus around it.
“The couple wanted to tell friends and family first and people won’t notice because her name is Elena,” a source said, referring to the fact that Ellie’s listed by her full name in the announcement instead of the nickname she goes by. “She’s over the moon and has never felt so happy.”
So many congrats to Ellie and Caspar. Hopefully, their engagement will be as chill and low-key as their announcement was.
