Joey King Spills Tea On Working With Her Euphoria Ex Jacob Elordi For Kissing Booth Sequel
For today’s example of “reasons not to date with your coworker” we have Joey King and Jacob Elordi. The pair started dating after starring in the Netflix Original Movie The Kissing Booth, which was the *big* Netflix YA flick before To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before>. Since the movie was such a hit and it was based on a book series, plans were put in motion to create The Kissing Booth 2 for Netflix.
Unfortunately, the relationship between Joey and Jacob didn’t last. In fact, Jacob went on to work on HBO hit Euphoria with rumors circulating he’s dating *another* costar, Zendaya. Still, Joey and Jacob agreed to go back — even though they’d be playing love interests. “I learned a lot about myself and I grew as an actor,” the 20-year-old actress revealed. TKB2 finished filming in August, around the same time the Jacob/Zendaya rumors were in full-force.
“I’m a fan with how [The Kissing Booth] resonated with the world; it resonated with me,” Joey said. “So going back and doing that and making the sacrifice of what, obviously, everyone is thinking about — outwardly addressing, but what I’m kind of on the sly addressing, making those sacrifices was totally worth it… It’s a real thing. It was fine. It was good and, I think for me because I am very much as friggin’ huge fan of The Kissing Booth myself, which sounds really narcissistic, but I am.
While Joey arguably spent much of her time filming the first flick with her now-ex, this time around, she leaned on her other co-star, Joel Courtney. “Obviously, going back and shooting with one of my real best friends in life, which is Joel Courtney, who plays Lee in the movie was phenomenal. He’s just like one of my favorite co-stars I’ve ever had, because he’s such a great actor.”
Joey also worked on the Emmy-nominated Hulu show, The Act, so she probably didn’t have too much time to bug out over her ex — or the fact that he may-or-may-not be dating Zendaya.
