Miley Cyrus, Tove Lo, and Camila Cabello all dropped new music this morning, but we’re here to talk about Katy Perry‘s new “breakup anthem,” “Never Really Over.” The songstress has had her fair share of on-and-off love affairs, namely with John Mayer and Orlando Bloom — but fans are thinking that the track is about a different kind of relationship that was “never really over” … her friendship with ex-rival Taylor Swift.

ICYMI (how???): Katy and Tay were good friends in 2009 through 2011, but seemed to get torn apart when Katy allegedly poached a bunch of Taylor’s backup dancers for her tour California Dreams. There were diss tracks released (“Bad Blood” and “Swish Swish”), subtweets, and exes taking sides (Calvin Harris backed Katy after he and Taylor split). But ultimately, both women decided they were over it and Katy sent Taylor a *literal* olive branch when the “ME!” singer started her reputation tour. Eagle-eyed fans could see that part of the card Katy sent read, “Hey old friend, I’ve been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and the feelings between us. I really want to clear the air…” Now the two have been subtly throwing each other some support via social media.

Have we gone from diss tracks to love songs? Fans certainly think so. Remember when we said they were friends from 2009 to 2011 before their very public falling out? Well part of the lyrics say, “Two years, and just like that / My head still takes me back / Thought it was done, but I / Guess it’s never really over.”

Fans also think that a Katy/Taylor collab might be coming on TS7 since Taylor has been adding rumored collaborators (Carly Rae Jepson and Dixie Chicks) to her playlist — and she added “Never Really Over” soon after it debuted.

I guess only time will tell!
