Lili Reinhart Returns To Twitter With Inspiring Message Against Her Haters
Lili Reinhart returned to Twitter on Thursday afternoon after her brief hiatus from the social media site and clapped back at the trolls that pushed her off of the site in the first place. The post was very fitting of a Variety + H&M Conscious Award-winner with the star shouting out her fans that have stuck by her through all the B.S. (we got you, Lili!) and called Twitter bullies “insecure and unhappy.”

Lili pre-gamed her return to Twitter with an Instagram Story about the negative effects of letting haters get you down.
“I give too much of myself to those people. The last people on earth who deserve it. And I feel regret. For letting them spark a reaction out of me. When I know all too well that the moment will pass,” Lili posted. “The sticky spiderweb that they create seems to trap me every time. But I seem to be the one biting myself in the end.”
Lili went on to say that one of her New Year’s “lessons” is that those trolls will never actually know her and their negativity can’t reach her if she shrugs it off.
“Value yourself. And the parts of yourself that are your own,” Lili concluded. “That no one else can touch.”
Her Insta Story notes session came after she posted a picture of herself giving her haters the middle finger and telling them to “bite her” on Wednesday night, so it looks like taking some time away from Twitter didn’t cleanse her soul the way she had hoped. Lili has been on vacation in Aruba with one of her childhood best friends to celebrate the new year, a much-needed break after dealing with anonymous online tormentors since her rise to fame on Riverdale and even getting her account hacked in August.
Lili never took a break from ~all~ social media, just Twitter, which she called “a cesspool for evil fifteen-year-olds” when she announced her originally departure from Twitter in mid-December.
“Do people on Twitter ever get tired of being so negative and disrespectful to literally everyone and everything? Are they really that miserable? There’s hate everywhere. But especially on Twitter. It’s like a cesspool for evil 15-year-olds who don’t know what the hell they’re talking about and have nothing better to do,” Lili wrote in a note on her Insta Story. “Taking a break from that toxic site and the people on it who feel the need to attack me, my cast mates, my relationship and Riverdale.”
Lili has a point in her hilarious takedown. Even Twitter’s former CEO Dick Costolo admitted the site had a problem with abuse and trolls in a 2015 internal memo, the troll problem was the reason Twitter couldn’t be sold to Disney or Salesforce in 2016, and the site’s structure allows for anonymous commenters to interact directly with celebs, which is essentially a recipe for disaster. Lili’s hiatus was instigated by a feud between irrelevant YouTuber Elijah Daniel and basically the entire Riverdale cast, but Lili made it clear that it’s the site’s culture of constant hate is what drover her away in the first place.
Welcome back, Lili!
