Everyone’s favorite TV dad Luke Perry has died following a massive stroke. The Riverdale actor passed late Monday morning surrounded by family according to reports from Variety.

Luke’s death comes only four days after his hospitalization in Los Angeles.

While younger audiences like us best know Luke as the only good parent on Riverdale, he shot to international fame after being cast on Aaron Spelling‘s instant classic Beverly Hills, 90210 in the 1990s. His character Dylan McKay became a teen heartthrob, drawing comparisons to James Dean and allegedly dating Madonna. He also appeared in the 1992 Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie that inspired the hit Sarah Michelle Gellar television series before appearing in countless other film and television projects during his nearly thirty-year career. He’s set to posthumously appear in Quentin Tarantino‘s film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margo Robbie in Summer 2019.

Before making it big in Hollywood, Luke worked in a doorknob factory and laid asphalt while auditioning for traditional acting roles and appearing in commercials for denim and candy bars, showing the hard work and determination his Riverdale character would later exemplify. Luke was also a family man, survived by his two sons, his fiance, his mother, his ex-wife, his step-father, and his brother and sister, all of whom were with him when he passed.

His Riverdale ex-wife and fellow former teen sensation Molly Ringwald shared her feelings on Twitter shortly after Luke’s passing:

90210 star Emma Caulfield Ford also reacted to Luke’s passing, reminiscing on his kindness while on set:

We’re sending all of our love to Luke’s family, friends, and coworkers. We’ll miss you.
