Nicki Minaj Praises Taylor Swift As Charli XCX Gets Dragged For Dissing Opening For Taylor

After opening for Taylor Swift on tour, it’s shocking that Charli XCX doesn’t know not to mess with Swifties. The 27-year-old hitmaker opened for Tay during the Reputation stadium tour and told Pitchfork that pening for arguably the biggest pop star in the world isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

“As an artist, it kind of felt like I was getting up on stage and waving to 5-year-olds,” Charli mentioned after saying she was “grateful” to be asked on the rep tour by Taylor. She said, “[Being an opening act] so many times … really cemented my status as this underdog character, which I like now… But I need to just own my own f*cking sh*t finally.”

Naturally, Swifties weren’t too pleased with the perceived diss.

Some who saw Charli XCX claimed it was obvious that the crowd wasn’t that into her which probably didn’t feel too good as a performer.

To make matters even more confusing, it seems that while Charli, who’s seemed to have a positive relationship with the “ME!” singer throughout the years, is dissing Swifties, Nicki Minaj is stanning Taylor?

The two exchanged some ~words~ in 2015 after Taylor thought Nicki was shading her nomination for Video of the Year at the Video Music Awards. Taylor tweeted to Nicki, saying, “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.” Katy Perry, who was at odds with Taylor at the time, sided with Nicki and talked about it on Twitter, too.

Nicki, for her part, said, “I’m so glad u guys get to see how this stuff works. Taylor took her music off spotify and was applauded. We launched Tidal & were dragged.”

But Nicki Minaj just posted a Instagram Story saying that Taylor “lit the fire under [her song] Superbass.”

Are we living in an alternate reality? We love that Taylor and Nicki have left the past in the past, but hasn’t Charli ever heard the phrase, “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all”?
