Influencer Olivia Jade (19) and her sister Bella Giannulli (20) have broken their six-month-long social media hiatuses to pay tribute to their mom, Lori Loughlin. The two girls have been absent from Instagram since news broke that their parents, Lori and Mossimo Giannulli, were involved in a college admissions scandal where they allegedly faked their daughters’ athletic abilities in order to secure their places in the University of Southern California.

Lori and her husband allegedly paid $500,000 in bribes to facilitate their daughters’ admission to USC as crew recruits. Since February, both Olivia and Bella have stayed silent on Instagram, however, they both decided to return to social media with tributes to their mother, who turned 55 on Sunday.

Yesterday, Bella took to Instagram to wish Lori a happy birthday. Along with a picture of her and her mom, she wrote: “happy birthday mama. I love you ❤️”

While Olivia didn’t post about her mother right away, she commented “my people ❤️” under her sister’s post, before uploading a photo of her own to Instagram. Alongside a photo of Lori and her as a baby, Olivia wrote: “one day late. happy birthday. i love you so much ❤️”

The social media tributes come after speculation that the admissions scandal caused a rift between Lori and her daughters, considering their entire social media careers were kind of ruined by her *alleged* actions. Before today, Olivia hadn’t posted to her Instagram account — which has 1.4 million followers, since February 28th. Bella, who has 248 thousand followers, hadn’t uploaded a photo since January 26th.

Lori and her husband have pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them for their alleged involvement in the college admissions scandal, which will go to trial early 2020, according to Us Weekly.

Olivia Jade built a career for herself via YouTube and Instagram and has lost several brand deals since the news of her parents’ involvement in the scandal broke. Do you think she’ll ever build back those brand relationships? Or should she and Bella consider community college?
