How Did Game Of Thrones Fans Miss Sophie Turner’s Huge Series Finale Spoiler Last Year?
Not going to lie, most of us should be feeling pretty dumb right now. Since season seven of Game of Thrones concluded in 2017 and we found out the cast finished filming the final season eight last year, we’ve been hanging onto every single word of every single interview Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Maisie Turner, and co. have given, hoping for clues about how one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons of the 21st century would end. We thought up fan theories, and made up lists about everything we knew about the final season. Turns out that instead of trying to solve riddles, we should’ve been looking at what was right in front of us — Sophie Turner‘s Game of Thrones tattoo that she unveiled last year.
To be fair, the actress that played Sansa Stark lied to our mf’ing faces when she spoke to James Corden and referred to the tattoo as “just quote from last season.” “Everyone figures the pack really does survive, but it’s just a moral that I like to live by,” she said at the time — playing us all like violins. But it turns out that it *was* a season eight spoiler. Sophie posted an Instagram of her with BFF Maisie (Arya Stark) and Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark), with the caption “the pack survived.” As you know by now: Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Jon Snow, played by Kit, all did make it out of the final season’s bloodbath breathing.
Hopefully when there’s another show as popular as Game of Thrones, we’ll look closer to final season spoilers and clues hiding in plain site — just like Sophie’s tattoo was.
