Why Fans Think Taylor Swift Put Demi Lovato On Blast In Billboard Woman Of The Decade Speech
Taylor Swift‘s Woman of the Decade speech at the Billboard 2019 Women in Music Awards was everything. The now-30-year-old (happy birthday Taylor!) singer talked about sexism in the music industry and name-dropped some rising artists like Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, and Tayla Parx. Naturally, the “Cruel Summer” singer also discussed her personal experiences fighting for ownership of her masters against Scooter Braun and Ithaca Holding.
But it’s while Taylor was overtly slamming the shady deal Scooter made with the help of the Soros Family, 23 Capital, and the Carlyle Group with Big Machine Label Group, that fans think the star was subtly shading Demi Lovato, with whom she’s had issues with in the past.
“Let me just say that the definition of the toxic male privilege in our industry is people saying, ‘But he’s always been nice to me,’ when I’m raising valid concerns about artists and their rights to own their music,” Taylor explained. “And of course he’s nice to you. If you’re in this room, you have something he needs.”
This is the quote that has Lovatics up in arms versus the Swifties. See, Demi signed Scooter Braun as her manager shortly before sh*t hit the fan between him and Taylor Swift. After other artists like Halsey and Selena Gomez backed Taylor in the feud, Demi used a text post to explain that she has dealt with “bad people” in Hollywood and Scooter’s always been nice to her.
“I have dealt with bad people in this industry and Scooter is not one of them. He’s a good man,” she wrote on Instagram. “Personally, I am grateful he came into my life when he did. Please stop ‘dragging’ people or bullying them.”
To fans, this quote seems to directly align with Taylor’s speech about toxic privilege in the music industry.
Her fans thinks every celebrity/ artists are problematic except their fav

Others, however, think that people are making drama out of nothing.
but you’re making this about DEMI LOVATO? this is so much bigger than her maybe people would take taylor seriously if her fans weren’t so childish lol they are using her speech to shade people not to spread awareness

As longtime fans of both Taylor and Demi probably remember, the two haven’t always seen eye-to-eye. It appeared that began way back in 2010 when Selena Gomez and Taylor’s friendship started getting to BFF-levels. Demi, who was previously SelGo’s best friend, was caught on camera saying “Ask Taylor!” when a fan asked how Selena was.
Since then, there have been sly digs at one another and allegations of feuding, but nothing as overt as what happened in June when Demi took Scooter’s side — loudly — in his feud with Taylor Swift. It wasn’t like Scooter’s other client, Ariana Grande, who chose the if-you-don’t-have-anything-nice-to-say-don’t-say-anything route. But just a few months later, Dems seemed to extend an olive branch by publicly praising Taylor Swift’s Lover album. Taylor responded positively, writing, “This is so awesome [and] put the biggest smile on my face.”
So, would Taylor Swift really betray their truce just for one-line in a speech that was already *legendary* as it was? Let us know what YOU think in the comments below!
