Because the only thing any of us are going to be talking about today is Ariana Grande and her emotional, honest album thank u, next, we may as well talk about the impact it’s had on the pop star herself. It comes less than six months after her fourth studio album, Sweetener, debuted and since that dropped, she’s lost an ex and longtime friend, Mac Miller to a fatal drug overdose and ended her engagement with Pete Davidson. We could talk about how “ghostin'” refers to dealing with Mac’s death while dating someone else (it samples his track “2009), or how she’s been obsessed with NASA for *literally* years, but instead, we’re going to talk about how instrumental these songs were for Ari’s healing.

In a tweet, Ari said “this music, [the fans] and my friends saved my life.”

The 25-year-old has been open about struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in the wake of a terrorist attack at her concert in Manchester in 2017, and her trials with anxiety. She’s been more active on social media than ever lately and has nothing but positive things to say about her loyal fans.
