Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin sparked rumors that they tied the knot in secret when they were seen leaving a courthouse last week. But then, when the supermodel took to Twitter to deny all the speculation, we didn’t know what to believe. However, now it appears as though her uncle may have spilled the beans after confirming that the couple really did get married.

Here’s a little recap: On Friday, September 14, the lovebirds caused an internet meltdown after TMZ reported that the pair were spotted getting their marriage license at a New York City courthouse. People then added fuel to the rumors by reporting that Justin and Hailey were already married! We didn’t know what to think especially after Hailey denied the reports, writing, “I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet!” in a since-deleted tweet.

So when reporters asked Hailey’s uncle, Alec Baldwin, what the heck was going on between his niece and the singer at the 2018 Emmy Awards, he let the cat out of the bag.

“They went off and got married, and I don’t know what the deal is!” the 30 Rock actor told Access on the red carpet, adding, “We text Hailey every now and then. We met [Justin] one time but as I said when you get married, I think it works best if you can really be together.”

Now, it’s certainly possible that Alec is going off of the same information as we are. However, he’s also family so if anyone should know the full story, it’s him. Just because Hailey denied that she and Justin are husband and wife, doesn’t mean they aren’t. It may just be a matter of whether a person considers a courthouse wedding official or not. From a legal standpoint, yes they might be married, but perhaps Hailey doesn’t believe it official until they have a religious ceremony.

“They didn’t want anyone but their families to know they got married. This wasn’t a wedding,” a source told People. “What happened at the courthouse is a courthouse thing — a legal thing. But marriage is two people making a vow before God and the people they love.”

TBH, we totally understand their reluctance to confirm reports. The two were also not wearing wedding bands in London over the weekend and probably won’t for a while. “They are not gonna wear wedding rings until after their wedding,” the insider added. “It will be in the next few months.”

So, there you have it! According to Alec, #Jailey “went off and got married.” But, we probably shouldn’t expect the couple to confirm anything until they officially say “I do” before God.
