When Cynthia Bailey was still married to her ex, Peter Thomas, things weren't exactly smooth sailing, and Cynthia's family was a big part of the reason why. In fact, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star's sister, Malorie, and their mom hated Peter so much that they tried to hide the pair's marriage license on their wedding day. Regardless of how hard Cynthia tried to make them all get along, her loved ones were still concerned that Peter was only using her for fame and money. Understandably, Peter wasn't too fond of Cynthia's family either. Still, the couple managed to stay together for six years before they announced their separation in 2016.
First it was just a rumor, but then two major clues pushed it way past rumor territory. Fans suspected that Donnie Wahlberg's family didn't like his wife, Jenny McCarthy, but Donnie's brother, Mark, practically confirmed that rumor when he skipped Donnie's wedding. Add to this the fact that only a year later, Mark's wife, Rhea, threw major shade at Jenny after she dyed her hair pink. She tweeted: "Don't u think after age 25 it might be strange for a woman to dye her hair pink, purple, green or any color of that sort??? #needattention?" Even despite the coldness from Donnie's family, however, he and Jenny celebrated their five-year anniversary in 2019.
To say that Paul McCartney's daughter, Stella McCartney and Heather Mills didn't get along would be a huge understatement. Heather once revealed: "Every single week Stella tried to break up our marriage. She was so jealous ... Stella wasn’t interested in her dad’s happiness. I can’t protect her any longer ... she’s done some evil, evil things ... we found out she scraped my face out a photo when they were in [a] psychiatric session together." Yikes.
But according to Stella, Heather was the problem. After the English media personality and model accused Sir Paul of abusing his former wife, Stella actually threatened to kill her. Stella reportedly said: "I told you she was a b*tch. Why did you marry her? She's been a manipulative cow from day one. The cow won't be happy until she destroys all of us and our memories of our mother." After four years together, the two split in 2006 and divorced in 2008.
Shannon Beador was always transparent about how much her ex-husband's family hated her. The Real Housewives of Orange County star said: "No matter how hard I try, my husband's family doesn't give two hoots about me. And it hurts ... And especially for her to go down and say that one gut-wrenching comment that I drove my husband to an affair, nobody drives anybody to an affair. I didn't make my husband do anything." She also revealed in an episode that her mother-in-law harbored resentment over the fact that she "took him away" from quality time with his mom. So, after over 17 years of marriage, Shannon decided that she'd had enough and filed for divorce in 2017.
David's daughters, Sara and Erin Foster, had a lot to say about Yolanda Hadid after she split up with their dad. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has been very open and public about her struggle with Lyme disease and apparently, the Foster sisters found this disturbing. Sara said: "If you're capable of continuing to be on a reality show, you're not dying. Let's be honest." Erin backed her sister up, saying: "I think that from everyone's experience ... no one wants everyone to know how sick they are and everyone to see how much they're struggling, and when that seems to be the focus, making everyone see how sick you are, that's just confusing to someone who's trying to be supportive."
Lisa Marie's mom, Priscilla, wasn't exactly jumping for joy when her daughter tied the knot with one of the most controversial pop stars in history — Michael Jackson. Although he was practically an icon and super talented, Priscilla wasn't convinced that he married for love. She said: "I want to believe he [loved her]. I would hate to believe that it was only for one thing, whether it be to maintain his popularity or to be associated somehow to her and her father. I really don't want to go there with that. It's just hard for me to believe that people do that. I mean, and she's really lovable." The marriage only lasted for two years, but Lisa Marie noted that, contrary to her mom's belief, Michael truly did love her.
Considering Brad and Angelina's very public divorce and insane custody battle, it's no wonder why Brad's mom, Jane, isn't Angelina's biggest fan. A source previously said: "Jane is a tough cookie, and she will never forgive Angelina for what she’s put the family through — especially since they’ve barely seen the kids since the divorce was announced. She thinks her son has been treated in a cruel and manipulative way, and she’s not letting this go." They also shared that Brad had to beg his mom to not confront Angelina on several occasions because she's convinced that the actress "ruined her son's life."
Yes, once upon a time, Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio were an item. However, their romance was reportedly cut short because of Leo's mom after just five months. The actor actually few off to Italy with his mom after telling Blake that he needed space. According to Blake's friends, it was because she thought Blake wasn't good enough for her son. One shared: "She tried hard to impress Leo’s mum when they met, but Irmelin couldn’t stand her. She told Leo that Blake was far too up herself for him."
Robert Pattinson's mom, Clare Pattinson, absolutely adored FKA Twigs when she was dating her son. However, she didn't share the same feelings for his famous ex and Twilight co-star, Kristen Stewart. One source shared: "They think she's great for him, and are happy that it wasn't Kristen in the end because they didn't have the same feeling for her they have for Twigs. It's no secret that Robert's sisters Lizzy and Victoria found it especially difficult to communicate with Kristen and build a relationship with her. However, Twigs is far more open and easy to get on with."
Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans decided not to invite her mom to her wedding because she refused to accept David Eason into the family, and it would've caused way too much drama. On her wedding day, Jenelle told her friend: "I wish I could have a mom there. I have no family coming, just friends." But then her mom, Barbara, explained: "David has alienated her from me. She has chosen David over her own family and that's just how it is." Just in case you need more confirmation of just how much she hates her son-in-law, she simply refuses to let Jenelle have split custody of her son Jace because she doesn't get along with David.
Lamar Odom's daughter, Destiny, shared that it was hard for her to have a solid relationship with her dad after his marriage to Khloé Kardashian. She said: "Things changed when my dad married Khloé. Things were a lot more public. When your dad’s an NBA player that’s already enough, but when he’s marrying a reality TV star, things are so public and you don’t have a private life anymore." She also expressed that their relationship was "very toxic" and noted that it had a negative effect on her life at school. Understandably, she wasn't a big fan of Khloé being her stepmom.
Caitlyn Jenner's kids apparently weren't too fond of Kris Jenner because they weren't sure if the relationship was genuine. Brody Jenner said: "The tension was real as far as growing up not knowing her intentions, who she is, there was obviously just drama between the family and parents." And as for Caitlyn's mom, Esther Jenner, she didn't like the famous matriarch either. She once said: "She could insult you with a big smile on her face, I know. What do you do with a person like that? You're going to avoid them if possible. She was backstabbing as far as my grandchildren were concerned, and that is something I can't stand. She's domineering – it's do it her way, or there's no way. I had very little to do with Kris. I stayed away from her as much as I could." Yikes...
Back when Chris Brown and Rihanna were still a couple, Rihanna's dad accepted Chris with open arms (and even wanted them to get married!). However, the same couldn't be said for Chris's dad, Clinton Brown. After the couple separated and got back together, he expressed his disappointment: "I personally really didn’t want him and Rihanna back together. You have to have a balance in a relationship. You have to have someone who is spontaneous and whimsical but you also have to have someone who is grounded and logical." The person he preferred to see date his son? ... Jordan Sparks.
It's rumored that Billy Ray Cyrus wasn't happy about his little girl dating actor Liam Hemsworth. After they met during their film The Last Song, their relationship took off pretty fast and Billy Ray apparently didn't approve of this. Perhaps he felt some relief when the couple called it quits in 2013, but since they reunited in 2015 there haven't been any rumors of disapproval. Liam and Miley tied the knot in 2018 but unfortunately separated after just eight months together.
In this case, Patrick Schwarzenegger's dad, Arnold Schwarzenegger, really liked Miley while his mom, Maria Shriver, wasn't a fan. Sadly, this led to a ton of family drama. A source close to the Schwarzenegger family said: "Miley and Patrick’s relationship is causing a lot of tension in his family. It’s creating a fissure in Arnold and Maria’s already tense relationship — and it’s affecting all of their children." They also shared that Maria "hates the whole circus that surrounds Miley and it upsets her the Arnold is okay with it." Maria disliked the singer so much that she actually refused to attend an event after learning that Patrick would be bringing Miley. We'd honestly pay to see her reaction when she learned about their breakup.
Lindsay Lohan announced her engagement to Russian entrepreneur Egor Tarabasov on Instagram in 2016, after just four months of dating. However, the two called it quits after getting into a fight. Considering how suspicious Lindsay's dad, Michael Lohan, was, he must've been relieved. He said: "I have no idea [if he's wealthy]. All I know is my daughter is paying most of the bills and trips were complimentary because of Lindsay's name. She was a segway for him to live that lifestyle." But aside from sharing his frustrations over the whirlwind romance, Michael also mentioned that his daughter deserved better. He said: "I wish she'd settle down with a nice, normal, sober guy. Someone who does as much for her as she does for them, and not someone in the entertainment business."
Selena Gomez's mom has made it pretty clear that she prefers not to get involved with or discuss her daughter's romantic relationships, but Mandy Teefy wasn't too fond of Biebs. She once revealed that while she was "not happy" about her daughter's relationship with him, she respected Selena's decision. She said: "Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy. She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed. Selena is an adult and can make her own choices." We're guessing she at peace after the two split up for good.
When Justin Bieber's mom, Pattie Mallette, liked a tweet about The Bachelorette that brought up the ridiculousness of super fast engagements, fans took it as a sign that she wasn't on board with her son's engagement to Hailey Baldwin. There were also a few cryptic tweets, like "If you don’t have something nice to say ..." which fans took as major shade towards the couple. But Pattie never commented on those rumors and it's very likely that fans were just overthinking it. After all, she never even mentioned her son, so maybe she was just excited about The Bachelorette and agreed with that commentary.
Kris Jenner was convinced that Kendall hit the jackpot with Harry Styles when they were dating, but unfortunately, their romance ended almost as quickly as it began. To make matters worse, Kendall quickly moved on to A$ap Rocky, and Kris simply couldn't understand what her daughter saw in him. But, like Kendall's relationship with Harry Styles, this romance was also pretty short-lived. Kendall and A$ap started dating in 2016 and broke up in 2017.
Kim Kardashian had fallen hard for former basketball player Kris Humphries, but her family despised the guy so much that they tried to talk her out of going through with the wedding. On the day of, Kris Jenner told her daughter: "This isn't it for you. Why don't you go away and I'll handle it?" The day before her wedding day, Khloé admitted that she tried to get through to Kim as well, asking her "Why are you marrying this f*cking dog?" Still, Kim and Kris went through with the wedding, but only 72 days later, they got divorced.
It looks like nearly all of Kris's daughters fell short in terms of their taste in men - or at least according to Kris. When Kylie Jenner was dating Tyga, Kris believed that he only wanted her for fame and money. Considering how he missed car payments, failed to pay rent and got sued for not returning borrowed jewelry, we'd say that her concerns were valid. One source said: "All she saw was Tyga hanging on to the Kardashian name and making his money off them. Kris wants more for Kylie, and more for Kylie is less of Tyga. Kris would play the part and like Tyga in public forums but it ended behind closed doors." They dated for about three years and then broke up in 2017.
