There have been some truly crazy celebrity rumors in the social media age. Some people claim Cameron Diaz only washes her face with Evian. Others say Richard Gere put a gerbil in his butt. And you know there's a good percentage of the population that is convinced Tupac, Elvis, John Lennon, and Walt Disney are alive and hanging out in a bunker under Graceland. One of the weirdest stories to come out of the rumor mill isn't actually that well known, even though its connected to many of the best known celebrity conspiracy theories out there. Read on to learn exactly how Beyoncé Knowles was accused of kitten murder and witchcraft by a former employee.
Remember Destiny's Child?
Destiny's Child aka the hip-hop rappin' Girl's Tyme was where Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams got their start in the late-1990s. The "Survivor" girl group had its fair share of internal strife, with six different members rotating in and out of the group before it settled into the iconic trio we all know and love in early 2000.
Meet Their Drummer, Kimberly Thompson
Kimberly Thompson drummed for Destiny's Child before their breakup and then joined Beyoncé's solo career for seven years as a part of Queen Bey's all-female touring band. The musician and music educator has known Beyoncé from her roots in Destiny's Child, but she left under not-so-great circumstances in the mid-2010s. Kimberly had some weird qualms with the "Formation" singer.
Kimberly Has Drummed For Destiny's Child, Beyoncé, And Jay-Z
Kimberly didn't just work with Beyoncé and Destiny's Child, though. She was in good enough graces with the diva icon to also secure a gig drumming for her husband, Jay-Z, and for Beyoncé's former Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams. Kimberly played with Bey and Jay-Z at the 2006 BET Awards ceremony and performed live with Bey during a televised performance of "Freakum Dress." Some time after that things went downhill in a big (and strange) way...
She's Also Drummed For Kelly Rowland, George Michael, and Kanye West
Oh, and her touring credits include the *other* member of the Destiny's Child trio, Kelly Rowland, Jay-Z's close friend and collaborator Kanye West, and the late Wham! member George Michael. Her resume seems unimportant now, but her ability to perform with so many iconic artists and her thriving career make her vendetta against Bey all the more bey-zarre.
We've All Heard The Rumors About Beyoncé And The Illuminati
Haters are ~still~ corny with this Illuminati mess. Conspiracy theorists have claimed Beyoncé is a part of the rumored centuries-old organization because of gossip surrounding her husband since 1996. The Illuminati supposedly are the intellectual and political elite that secretly run the world, and Hova's massive success led the easily swayed to believe that he had more than just musical talents. Then, his Roc Nation signature hand sign was eerily similar to the Illuminati's triangle sign.
Some Even Claim That Queen Bey Runs The Centuries-Old Organization
The same people that decided Jay-Z gave his allegiance to the Illuminati think that "Single Ladies" contains secret messages when it played backward and that her other music videos hint at her true position as Queen of the Illuminati. The farthest-reaching claims explain that Aaliyah was the rightful queen of the Illuminati but was killed because she tried to escape the organization, leading Beyoncé to rise after her passing to replace her.
But Beyoncé Has Always Been Followed By Crazy Rumors
Bey's no stranger to ~crazy rumors~ following her around. That's the downside of being the undefeatable GOAT of music. Some are simple misunderstandings, like Beyoncé's dad Mathew Knowles getting the ages of Destiny's Child members in the 1990s confused and starting a conspiracy about Beyoncé's age. Others are far-reaches, like the idea that Joan Rivers was killed because she tweeted something negative about Queen Bey.
Some People Even Think Solange Is Her Daughter
One of the dumbest Bey theories is that soul queen Solange is actually her daughter. According to the Beyoncé age conspiracy started by her dad (and exacerbated by claims from Gabrielle Union that she knew Beyoncé in high school), Bey is nine years older than her reported age, making her fourteen when Solange was born. Bey is really only five years older than her sister, so we're going to take this one with a big grain of salt.
...And That Bey Is Holding Sia Hostage In A Subterranean Lair
And by far the funniest Beyoncé conspiracy theory is the large number of Twitter users who think that Beyoncé kept Sia hostage in a subterranean lair. Sia mentioned in a Billboard article that collaborating with Bey is "like a writing camp" and that Bey is Frankenstein when it comes to her songs, and Brazilian Twitter decided this meant they needed #SaveSia.
Our Fave Rumor Is That She Used To Be An Item With Barack Obama
Our fave of the ridiculous Beyoncé rumors out there is one "leaked" by a French journalist. Apparently, the French believe that Beyoncé and President Barack Obama were a thing, like Marilyn Monroe and JFK. Cette homme probablement a confondu Obama avec Francois Holland, because Michelle Obama is a queen and is treated as such, but if Barack and Bey are single in like 80 years, this is the power couple we deserve.
Suffice To Say, Beyoncé Has Always Been A Magical Figure
Supplied by WENN.com
Remember when Beyoncé let Taylor Swift have her moment at the 2009 VMAs during *her* acceptance speech because Kanye had stolen Tay's mic earlier in the performance? Or when she sang "At Last" for Michelle and Barack's first dance at the 2009 Inaugural Ball? Did you not cry? She did the last *actually good* Superbowl Halftime show on record, and her Coachella headlining act in 2018 slayed the entire world. Beyoncé is magic, no conspiracy needed.
Just Look At The Records She's Broken
Yoncé is the highest-paid black recording artist of all time. She's the first artist of all time to have her first six albums debut at number one. She is the most nominated woman in Grammy history, the first woman to win six Grammys in one night, the first black entertainer to land the cover of Sports Illustrated, and the first artist to be nominated in four genres in the same year at the Grammys for "Lemonade." She really snapped with that one.
And All Of The Awesome Stuff She's Done For The Black Community
VEVO (Supplied by WENN.com)
We know Beyoncé's been a powerful voice for Black Lives Matter and brought Malcolm X's Black Panther imagery to two of the world's biggest stages: the Superbowl and Coachella. She has a foundation called BeyGood that has done food drives in her native Houston, raised money for victims of the earthquake in Nepal, and gave scholarships to students in conjunction with her On The Run II tour. She's also helped charities to fight gender inequalities and to help addicts and the homeless. But for some (her drummer included), that's not enough to keep the conspiracies of kitten murder at bay...
But Kimberly Has Other Theories On Beyoncé's Mystical Ties
So, Beyoncé is clearly a magical human. But Kimberly has some other theories on Beyoncé's power. She thinks that the singer has legit magical powers beyond just a ridiculous vocal range, beauty, and a charitable heart. Kimberly's beef with Beyoncé stems from her idea that Beyoncé actually has more nefarious powers, and secretly uses them for evil. And these powers aren't figurative.
She Got The Idea From One Of Her Psychics
According to the DailyMail, Kimberly went to two psychics to try and figure out why her kitten kept attacking her and doing "weird magical stuff." One of the psychics said it was Beyoncé who cast a spell on her cat to make it act strangely. Kimberly said she didn't want to believe it when the first psychic said it, and even reached out to a second for a follow-up opinion.
But Her Problems Aren't Just Magical
Kimberly has claimed that Beyoncé stole her musical ideas and encouraged other celebs to follow suit, derailing her career and causing her emotional distress.
"'I regret that we ever worked together because it has turned my life completely upside down," Kimberly told an interviewer. "'Other people I've worked with have been paid to fire me. I found this out and then it just kept happening. It was a pattern."
She Thinks Beyoncé Is Jealous Of Her
Kimberly claims that Beyoncé has a vendetta against her because she's jealous. Of what exactly? No idea. But Kimberly says Beyoncé just can't let her go and mature into her own artists outside of Beyoncé's band. She said Beyoncé tried to control every aspect of her life and that this person she once put on a pedestal was now her bully.
Now, Kimberly Claims Beyoncé Is Using "Extreme Witchcraft" And "Dark Magic" Against Her
This was already fishy, but you know it's cray when witchcraft comes into the picture. Apparently, Beyoncé has been using her dark powers and witchcraft to destroy her happiness, prevent her from moving cities to get a fresh start, and manipulate her jobs. Kimberly says this has been going on since 2006, and it gets even darker (and weirder).
She Claims The Lemonade Singer "Jumps Into Other Bodies" To Watch Her Be Intimate
Apparently, Kimberly thinks that Beyoncé is so obsessed with her that she "manipulated her sexually" and "jumped into other bodies" to watch Kimberly while she was being intimate with romantic partners. The exact phrasing she used in her legal documentation (we'll get to that) is that Bey used "magic spells of sexual molestation." Oh, and that she tapped her phones. Sure.
Kimberly Even Says That Beyoncé Murdered Her Pet Kitten
The legit wildest part of all this is that Kimberly accused Beyoncé of murdering her kitten. After first enchanting it to attack her and do vague magical things, Beyoncé ~apparently~ had the cat killed.
"[The psychics] were like the cat has a spell on it," Kimberly shared. "I said what about [Beyoncé] and they were like yes, [Beyoncé] put a spell on the cat and you need to get rid of it right away, otherwise you'll be in really, really, huge trouble."
Kimberly Filed For A Restraining Order Against Queen Bey
All of this led to Kimberly filing a restraining order against Beyoncé, and her court documents were obtained by The Blast, who first broke the story. Kimberly legit took *legal action* against Queen Bey for supposed magic offenses. On top of the magic spells and kitten murder, the document also claims Bey cast spells on her lovers to break her relationships, stole her homes, and stole her computer. Y tho???
But After Posting A Bizarre Video To YouTube, Her Request Was Denied
Youtube via TheBlast.com
Kimberly's request for a restraining order was denied for a lot of reasons, but a large part of it was likely a ranting, unstable video on YouTube where she appeared erratic and talked vaguely about "mean people." Hopefully, Kimberly has gotten some help with whatever was going on in her head because mental health issues are no laughing matter.
And Kimberly Didn't Even Show Up To Her Court Hearing
Kimberly didn't even have the decency to actually show up in court to defend these claims (or Beyoncé somehow ~enchanted~ her again, LMAO), so it makes a lot of sense that the case was dismissed in court. Clearly, no one representing Yonce showed up either, probably because she barely even knew this was going on. Beyoncé has bigger problems than haters making up stories that aren't even remotely believable. Plus, being witchy is in right now, just ask Lana Del Rey.
Kimberly Seems To Be Doing OK Now, After Finishing Up Work On The Donna Summer Musical On Broadway
Kimberly thankfully seems to be doing OK in 2019, only a few months after her restraining order was filed. Kimberly worked on The Donna Summer Musical which was on Broadway in March 2018, and she drummed on Late Night with Seth Meyers in its first season as its original house drummer. Funnily, her work with Beyoncé is still listed on her Facebook page and her website.
And We All Know Beyoncé Is Doing Just Fine
Beyoncé can't stop winning. From voicing Nala in the epic Lion King remake in summer 2019 to releasing a surprise album with her husband after wrapping up their highly successful On the Run II Tour in London, Beyoncé is an unstoppable legend. She's definitely magic, but let's go out on a limb here and assume she has bigger things to worry about than destroying the life of one of her former drummers.
