35 Celebrity Enemies Who Used To Be BFFs
The CW
Celebrities aren't *really* just like us. They usually have buckets of money, they mostly hang out with other celebrities, and their jobs are way cooler than ours. But that doesn't mean they aren't human. Their drama plays out on a much larger scale, with the paparazzi documenting their every move and the supporting characters in their lives being the leading characters on television shows and movies. These celebrities were best friends, then like we've all had happen to us, their friendships tragically fell apart. These celebs survived the destruction of their best friendships, but not without some bad blood.
Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian
Judy Eddy / WENN
Before Kim Kardashian became the closest thing we have to American royalty (sorry, Kennedys), she was Paris Hilton's sidekick/lackey/closet organizer. Shocking that a best friendship based solely off of vodka and servitude didn't last. The first sign of tension came when Paris apparently said Kim's butt looked like "cottage cheese stuffed in a trash bag" and TMZ caught wind of it, but even though she apologized, Kim still started hanging out with another enemy of Paris, Lindsay Lohan. By 2011, they had lost contact completely. You see them hanging out every once in a while, but not without comments from Paris taking credit for all of Kim's success.
Adrienne Bailon and Kim Kardashian
Rachel Worth / WENN
It's lonely at the top. Kim K also lost touch with Adrienne Bailon, who squandered her Cheetah Girls clout on a relationship with Rob Kardashian. Seriously, you could have had any C-List celeb in the world, and you chose *Rob Kardashian*? Things weren't too frosty between Kim and Adrienne until Adrienne decided to accuse Rob of cheating on her in the press. Kim responded with a Tweet saying, "Funny how she says being with a Kardashian hurt her career yet the only reason she has this article is bc she is talking about a Kardashian.”
Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad
Reggie Collier / WENN
Okay, we all know how this one plays out because we all watched The Hills. Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad were BFFs until Heidi started dating Spencer Pratt. Spencer and LC were never exactly friendly, but her friendship with Heidi didn't totally blow up until Perez Hilton posted something saying Lauren and her then-boyfriend Jason Whaler had made a sex tape. Heidi didn't even reach out to see if she was okay, and even though Heidi claimed it was because she was recovering from plastic surgery, Lauren found out it was actually because Spencer is the one who started the rumors in the first place. You know what you did!
Brody Jenner and Spencer Pratt
Judy Eddy / WENN
Speaking of Spencer Pratt being the worst, he used to be best friends with Brody Jenner, back when he was the only reality star in his family. The pair grew apart because Spencer went f*cking insane, but things got heated when Brody pointed out that Spencer was f*cking insane in a radio interview. Brody said Spencer was just looking for attention, so Spencer fired back in US Weekly that Brody's parade of famous exes proved he was the real attention-seeker and that he should get "f*cking idiot" tattooed on his body. They both should, IMHO.
Bill Murray and Harold Ramis
Columbia Pictures
The movie Groundhog Day ruined Bill Murray and Harold Ramis's friendship. The comedic dream duo didn't speak for over two decades, only burying the hatchet once Harold knew he was dying. Bill and Harold rose at the same time, taking different paths before reuniting on Caddyshack, then starring together in the Ghostbusters films. Cue their sixth film effort, Groundhog Day, where issues in Bill's personal life made him difficult to work with and conflicting visions for the film caused such a gulf between them that they never worked together again.
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell
Paramount Pictures
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell were basically one comedian in the '90s, Kenanandkel. Their magnum opus, Good Burger, came out in 1997, then in the 2000s, they completely lost touch. Kenan booked SNL and literally never left, while Kel famously botched his audition and stayed in Los Angeles. In 2012, Kel accused Kenan of wanting nothing to do with him on TMZ, and in 2014 and 2015 he reiterated that he hadn't seen Kenan since showing up uninvited to his birthday party in 2009. Apparently, Kenan wanted to be known as more than one half of a duo, but by 2017, he'd gotten over that, and the once strong friendship has circled back into BFF territory.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna
WENN
At first glance, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow don't have much in common other than their blindingly blonde hair. After Madonna's divorce from Guy Ritchie, they had even less in common because Gwyneth hadn't consciously uncoupled from Chris Martin yet. The real instigator, though, was Madonna firing their mutual trainer Tracy Anderson. Tracy, Gwyn, and Madonna were all friends, and Shape said Tracy's unceremonious sacking also caused friction between Madonna and Stella McCartney, Beyoncé, and Kate Hudson.
Jay-Z and Kanye West
WENN
Jay-Z and Kanye West were like family before their falling out, but in 2014, the first indication of trouble in paradise came when Jay and Beyoncé skipped out on Kimye's wedding. Why do all of these feuds seem to tie back to the Kardashians or Paris Hilton? Anyway, in 2016, Yandhi went on a rant during one of his concerts about how Blue Ivy and North West hadn't had a playdate yet and Watch The Throne 2 wasn't going to happen because of issues with TIDAL and Apple. Jay-Z hit back in a song that claimed Kanye borrowed $20 million from him, and now Kanye is suing Jay-Z's Rock-a-Fella Records.
Katy Perry and Taylor Swift
WENN
This was dead*ss the beef heard around the world because radio stations wouldn't stop playing "Bad Blood" once Kendrick Lamar hopped on the track. Taylor Swift gave a Rolling Stone interview explaining that the single was about a female friend who tried to sabotage her career and hired a bunch of backup dancers out from under her. Detectives realized that was deff Katy Perry, who later tweeted "Be careful of the Regina George in sheep's clothing," which after this many years, I feel like we can all acknowledge was a lame diss. That said, Katy recently gave Swift a *literal* olive branch, so they're probably not mortal enemies anymore.
Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera
WENN
Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera are probably two of the only people in the world that can understand what it's like to be each other after growing up as pals on The Mickey Mouse Club, but decades of forced rivalry and some personal issues turned these childhood friends into lifelong enemies. They first argued over Justin Timberlake, then became Madonna's sloppy seconds during her VMA performance with Christina and Britney. Since then, they've traded barbs in magazines that got more and more pointed over time. Somethings you just can't unsay, and calling someone trailer trash with a QVC engagement ring is one of those things.
Amber Rose and Kanye West
WENN
I'll never forget the day we learned Kanye was a #FingersInTheBooty*ssB*tch. TBF, Kanye and Amber didn't exactly start out as BFFs. They dated in 2008 for two years, then split (supposedly because of Kim K, according to Amber and Star Magazine), but their issues went into feud territory long after in 2015 when Amber went after Kylie Jenner for dating Tyga. Then, Kanye accidentally insulted Amber's child while going after her man, Wiz Khalifa, which spurred the most iconic Twitter rant of all time. Kanye listed eighteen different issues he had with Wiz and Amber, then Amber exposed him for liking butt stuff. TMI, I know, but that's what happened.
Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo
Columbia Pictures
13 Going On 30 is a tween classic. The chemistry between Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner was so sweet that it's crazy their on-set friendship never really got off the ground IRL. Talking to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Mark revealed that Ben Affleck was actually the reason his friendship with Jen faded and that it made him sad. Sure, that doesn't make Jen and Mark ~enemies~ but it does make Ben my enemy, so I say it counts.
50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather
Supplied by WENN.com
50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather were once part of the Money Team, even appearing on the cover of XXL together in 2011 and starting a film production company called Mayweather Productions. 50 even picked Floyd up when he got out of jail, the mark of a true friend. Then, Floyd got too busy to hang and 50 got mad, so he went into business with Manny Pacquiao instead. That started years of public jabs that have cooled and reheated multiple times over the past decade.
Tiffani Thiessen and Jennie Garth
FayesVision/WENN.com
WENN.com
Tiffani Thiessen and Jenny Garth were on two of the biggest teen shows ever, Saved By The Bell and 90210, respectively. Eat your heart out, Riverdale. Their bond went deep, with Tiffani even being there for the birth of Jenny's first child. Then, one day, they got into a big fight. Tiffani told US Magazine that the argyment was Jenny's fault and that she had been really hurt by it, and the former teen stars haven't really been tight since.
Kim Kardashian and Blac Chyna
E!
Blac Chyna and Kim K were friends long before Blac decided to date Rob Kardashian. Did she learn nothing from Adrienne Bailon's mistakes? Blac and Kim had their first falling out even before Kim's sister Kylie Jenner started dating Blac's ex/baby daddy Tyga, but the beef got brutal once Blac started dating Rob (for revenge or fame, some think) and Rob's sisters didn't approve. Then Rob and Blac Chyna's relationship got volatile, and you know how fiercely loyal the Kardashians can be. Things will never be the same.
Blake Lively and Leighton Meester
WENN
I honestly have no idea if Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were ever friends or if they were always enemies or if they're even beefing at all. The press went so many different directions with this story, that you could report they were in a blood feud dating back to the Middle Ages and it wouldn't be *that* out there. The supposed tea is that they were cool for a sec before Leighton decided Blake was an egomaniac, Blake had issues with Leighton's wardrobe budget, and via New York Magazine, avoided each other "like the plague" on set of Gossip Girl. There was so much drama on that set though it's hard to keep up.
Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
WENN
Before you freak, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are okay now. But their feuds were epically hilarious. My fave is when Nicole got mad at Paris for some reason and allegedly decided to throw a viewing party for Paris's gig hosting SNL but instead showed Paris's sex tape to the guests. That's some Gossip Girl sh*t, Blake and Leighton better take notes. Then they had to film their Simple Life TV show separately because they refused to work together but didn't want to say no to a paycheck. They reconciled a year later and have been cool since, but that was a pretty intense year of fighting.
Lea Michele and Naya Rivera
Fox
Lea Michele and Naya Rivera started out as friends, but Naya revealed in her book Sorry Not Sorry that they started fighting when Santana became a bigger character on Glee and Rachel Berry Lea had to share more of the spotlight. Naya accused Lea of being unable to separate work from her personal life, blaming Naya for all of her problems, and totally icing Naya out by the time season six moved around. TBD on Lea's side of the story.
Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor
WENN.com
Debbie Reynolds was a national treasure, and I'm not just saying that because Halloweentown is a Top 10 film. If you think today's drama is bad, you should have been around in 1959 when Debbie's husband Eddie Fisher, one of the biggest stars in the world, walked out on Debbie and their two children for none other than Debbie's longtime best friend, Elizabeth Taylor. Debbie and Eddie were the Maid of Honor and Best Man at Elizabeth's wedding to Mike Todd, Eddie's best friend. Yeah, it just gets more and more messed up. Mike died in a plane crash in 1958, and while Eddie tried to comfort his widow, they fell in love. Liz and Eddie married in 1959 before Liz dumped him in 1963. Debbie and Liz did make up in 1966 when they accidentally vacationed on the same cruise ship.
Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie
Nikki Nelson / WENN
While Nicole and Paris have proven to be best friends forever, feuds be damned, their collateral damage hasn't been extended that same courtesy. Lindsay Lohan used to party with both girls, and while Lindsay's falling out with Paris is its own story (we'll get to that), it seems like Nicole just followed Paris's lead. Sometimes people just grow apart, and sometimes one of the people that grew apart really, really doesn't like the other person. Fox News remembers when Lindsay was chilling at the Chateau Marmont in 2009 and Nicole just walked by her and said, "Uck," which is highly hilarious.
Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan
Nicky Nelson/WENN.com
FayesVision/WENN.com
Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan used to party together, which makes sense because everyone and their second cousin used to party with either Paris or Lindsay. They've had a super tumulous on-again, off-again friendship. The issues really started when Lindsay started allegedly dating Paris's ex Stavros Niarchos, and Paris was caught on camera laughing as her friend called Lindsay poor because she only had seven million dollars and accused her of living in a motel. Other highlights include Paris revealing that the infamous pictures of the duo partying with Britney Spears actually came after Lindsay chased after them and forced her way into their car, and Paris calling Lindsay a pathological liar in an IG comment in 2018. This feud is one that may drag on forever — but we live for the drama.
Bette Davis and Joan Crawford
WENN.com
The Bette Davis and Joan Crawford feud was prolific enough that Ryan Murphy decided to make a television series just to tell some of the more believable tales of backstabbing and brutality. Joan and Bette were enemies long before they would team up to make What Ever Happened To Baby Jane, where they weren't really best friends but they were friendly enough that the intensification of their epic clash was surprising. Their fight's climax came when Joan fought tooth and nail to ensure Bette lost the Oscar for Best Actress when she was nominated for Baby Jane over Joan.
Courtney Love and Madonna
News Pictures/WENN.com
WENN.com
Spin remembers when Courtney Love and Madonna were tight. Madonna asked Courtney to join her punk band but got upset after Courtney talked about it in the press to try and prove her pop clout. Their friendship was short-lived, and in response to Madonna saying she didn't know who Courtney was, Court threw her make-up compact at Madonna during an on-air interview before inserting herself into the interview despite Madonna's protests.
Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty
Daniel Tanner/ WENN.com
The Charmed cast didn't really get along after the show wrapped... or in some cases even during the show. Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs were actually very close, though, and were both bridesmaids for Alyssa Milano's 1999 wedding, before Shannen and Alyssa's famous falling out that led to Shannen leaving the series. When Shannen left, she implied she was still tight with Holly and that Holly also wanted to leave. Holly and Shannen had been BFFs for a decade before Charmed, but there have been rumors of the pair falling out after Perez Hilton noticed they unfollowed each other on social media.
Kristen Stewart and Katy Perry
Joe Alvarez/WENN
Nicky Nelson/WENN.com
Kristen Stewart and Katy Perry were unlikely BFFs who fell out for the same reason too many of these female friendships have fallen apart — a dude. Come on, ladies, seriously? Their friendship was damaged when Katy chose to comfort Robert Pattinson, another friend, after Kristen cheated on him. Katy tried to clarify to Kristen that rumors in the tabloids about her being ~with~ Rob were totally false and that she never broke girl code, but the damage had been done.
The Rock and Tyrese Gibson
Brian To/WENN.com
Dwayne Johnson has had his fair share of celebrity feuds, but his fight with former friend and Fast and the Furious co-star Tyrese Gibson went a little too public. News Hub reported on a breakdown Tyrese suffered in 2017 where he threatened Dwayne's family on social media. When Dwayne was asked about the videos, he straight up said he wasn't going to talk to Tyrese again.
"We haven't talked at all. That whole thing with Tyrese, it was pretty disappointing because I'd been friends with Tyrese for a very long time," he told Andy Cohen. "To me, there's no need to have a conversation."
Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria
FayesVision/WENN.com
WENN.com
Former friends Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria have a whole lot of drama. In 2008, pictures of Eva sitting on J.Lo's then-husband Marc Antony's lap were published, which clearly did not go over well with J.Lo. When Jennifer and Marc announced their split, Eva comforted Mark, which seems like twisting the knife a little, but OK. Needless to say, J.Lo and Eva are no longer BFFs.
Drake Bell and Josh Peck
Nikki Nelson / WENN
Drake Bell has been holding onto the past a leeeetle too tightly, and he got really salty when his former brutha didn't invite him to his wedding. He tweeted some choice words at Josh Peck when even Drake admits he should have just texted the dude. Since then, the Nickelodeon stars have hugged it out, but Drake revealed in yet another overshare that they still don't really talk. The bromance is truly dead, and my childhood has been ruined.
Jennifer Aniston and Chelsea Handler
WENN.com/FayesVision
The reason behind Jennifer Aniston and Chelsea Handler's BFF breakup isn't totally shocking. Is anyone surprised that Chelsea's total lack of boundaries is what did them in? Their friendship was super public, but then Chelsea kept talking to the tabloids about Jen's personal life after her split with Justin Theroux (AND she included some stuff about Brad Pitt in there too, even though that's old news). CheatSheet thinks it looks like Jen won the mutual friends in this friend breakup, and she definitely won their publicist, Stephen Huvane.
Ben Affleck and Kevin Smith
WENN
Kevin Smith tweeted about the reason he's no longer friends with Ben Affleck and unlike everything else that's gone wrong in Ben's life, this one doesn't look like Ben's fault. Congrats! Kevin fully shouldered the blame for their split, which actually had the same instigator as Jen Aniston and Chelsea Handler's falling out. Keven said that he had a "big mouth" and "told too many candid stories that sometimes weren't his to tell." Here's hoping these two are willing to bury the hatchet.
Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper
WENN
Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper's friendship ended because of Donald Trump, yet another way he's ruined our country. Kathy posed with a fake Trump head that had been decapitated and bloodied, and people, like, freaked the f*ck out for some reason. Anderson acted like a fake *ss homie and put Kathy on blast in a tweet where he called the photo appalling, disgusting, and inappropriate, and unlike a bunch of his coworkers, Anderson took his sweet time to see if she was doing OK handling the backlash. Kathy ended their two-decade friendship because she deserved better.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Winona Ryder
WENN/ Sidewalk
Gwyneth Paltrow has this unfortunate habit of oversharing on Goop that we just love. The long story is that Winona Ryder is pretty sure that the Goop "How To Break Up With A Friend" essay is about her after Gwyn went behind her back in 1997 and physically stole Winona's Shakespeare In Love script. We all know Gwyn got that role (and an Oscar along with it), so the Goop article probably felt like salt in the wound.
Heather Locklear and Denise Richards
WENN.com
WENN.com
Throwing it way, way back to 2006, Denise Richards ended her friendship with Heather Locklear over a guy. Denise is the one who told People that the friendship had to end, which is ironic because Denise is also the one who was pictured kissing Heather's estranged husband. Basically, it looks like Heather didn't do anything wrong other than putting all of her eggs in the wrong baskets. That time, at least.
Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker
WENN
Samantha and Carrie would never. It's hard to say where Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker's relationship went south. Maybe people really were confusing them too much with their Sex and the City counterparts and missing clear signs of trouble in paradise, but the issues didn't become clear until after the series' filming wrapped. The Readers' Digest version of the story is that Kim wanted a better salary and that alienated her from the rest of the gang. They really couldn't deny the feud (as hard as they tried) after Kim went off on Sarah for publicly offering condolences to Kim following the death of her brother. Kim responded by calling her a fake on IG and saying she'd always been cruel. Sarah responded by trying to take the high ground and again saying she couldn't do a third movie without Kim.
Rihanna and Katy Perry
WENN
Sometimes, when the same names just keep popping up in these feud stories, you have to wonder if maybe that person is the problem. Anyway on a "fully unrelated" note, Katy Perry got into another girl fight, this time with Rihanna. Rih and Katy were super close and loved to spill tea in public, which is deff relateable, but apparently, Katy was pretty rude to Riri when she got back with Chris Brown in 2012 and they fought more when Katy got back together with Orlando Bloom. People really noticed when Ri didn't include Katy on her star-studded Met Gala afterparty guest list.
