Celebrity
40 Envy-Worthy Yachts Owned By Stars
There are a few very important ways in which celebrities are not, in fact, just like us. Sure, they grocery shop in their sweatpants and a messy bun, but the only reason we know that is because someone decided to take a picture of them grocery shopping in their sweatpants and a messy bun and sell it for a couple thousand dollars. You may live in a gated community like Hidden Hills, but they live in a celebrity mansion *with horses* and you live in the part of Hidden Hills that slightly smells like their horse's sh*t.
Celebrities own yachts, and you own a sailboat in a glass bottle your uncle gave to you when you were four and have been on one Carnival cruise. Are you jealous yet? Here are forty envy-worthy yachts owned by stars to remind you that celebrities aren't just like us.
Tiger Woods (Privacy)
Tiger Woods must have named his yacht *before* his cheating scandal, right? The name "Privacy" is kind of on the nose for a guy whose career was almost taken down by his private activities. Tiger's 155-foot yacht cost over twenty million dollars and served as his home at the Montauk Yacht Club during the U.S. Open. Privacy includes a sky-lounge bar, a gym, a walk-in fridge, a gym, a jacuzzi, five guest rooms, a two-thousand-gallon water tank, a deck dining area, and two built-in wall safes. If they were planning on making an Ocean's Nine this might be a good place to stage their heist.
J.K. Rowling (Amphitrite)
This superyacht used to be owned by Johnny Depp before he sold it to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling in 2016. Maybe that's why J.K. let Johnny stay in the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them movie after Amber Heard outed him as an abusive husband. The Vajoliroja, which was renamed Amphitrite when Johnny married Amber, cost over twenty million dollars as well, with five "cabins" (so, like, fancy rooms?) for guests and five for crew members, bohemian-style saloons, entertaining areas, waterskis, and kayaks. She is 156-feet long and each room includes a wine bar and skylight.
Giorgio Armani (Main)
Acclaimed Italian fashion designer and billionaire Giorgio Armani has more than one yacht because he can afford to have more than one yacht. "Main" was built in 2008 and has a minimalist design in a black and grey color palette to match its exterior. Leave it to Giorgio to have a sleek, fashionable mega-yacht. "Main" measures at 150-feet with shaded areas and sunbathing areas, and its interior design was done by Giorgio himself. The ship has a master stateroom, a cinema, a hot tub, an indoor gym, six guest cabins, and eight cabins for crew members.
Giorgio Armani (Mariu)
Giorgio Armani's second yacht was built in 2003 and has all kinds of cool tech that laypeople like me probably don't care about like Quantum zero speed stabilizers, VSAT broadband (so, like, wifi?), and a Kaleidescape AMX audio-visual system. The Mairu is named after Giorgio's mother and is roughly 50-meters long. Giorgio's main yacht is, fittingly, Main, because unlike Main, Mairu wasn't entirely designed by Giorgio. Both are built by Codecasa, one of the oldest family-owned superyacht builders in Italy. It's amazing that there's even more than one family-owned superyacht builder in Italy, but the Italians must really know how to live.
Roberto Cavalli (Roberto Cavalli)
Roberto Cavalli's Baglietto, self-named ship is the stark opposite of Giorgio's Main, a rainbow-colored shimmering ship valued at fifty million dollars. It's 150-feet long and has hosted Roberto's friends including Posh and David Beckham. The superyacht was a custom-built ship, and it can accommodate eight guests and four crew members, so it has just enough room for all of the Beckhams. Photos of the ship's interior show a bathroom with cheetah print chairs and a zebra door in gold to match the bedroom walls, so safe to say Roberto doesn't share his contemporary Giorgio's delight in the minimal.
Diane von Fürstenberg (Eos)
Diane von Furstenberg shares her sailing yacht with her billionaire media mogul husband Barry Diller. The Eos cost over $115 million and is considered the world's most expensive sailing yacht. Measuring 304.89-feet, Eos was built by the world-famous Lurssen shipyard in Germany over three years and was designed by Francois Catroux, who Vanity Fair named "The Über-Rich’s Favorite Interior Designer" in 2016. Eos has room for sixteen guests and twenty-one crew members. It also features speedboats for its guests, an upper-deck Jacuzzi, and a huge glass staircase. The yacht's famous guests have included Harry Styles, Bradley Cooper, Karlie Kloss, and Gayle King.
Rafael Nadal (Beethoven)
Famous Tennis ace and sixteen-time Grand Slam singles winner Rafael Nadal bought the Beethoven in 2016 to sail around the Balearic Islands near his home in Mallorca. Raf once talked to Boat International about his passion for superyachts and being able to recognize most superyachts by name from a distance, which is the most niche hobby in existence. The vessel can accommodate up to eight guests and two crew members, and it has a top speed of thirty-one knots, which is apparently pretty fast for a ship of this size. The ship cost a more than two-and-a-half million dollars.
Steve Jobs’s Family (Venus)
The Venus has a sad backstory: Steve Jobs commissioned the ship for his family but died before it was completed. Venus is now owned by Steve's family and is fitted with Mac computers in the bridge. The extremely private ship is apparently a fun yacht to track for people like Rafael — it appears that his yacht-spotting hobby is a real thing for many 'yachtspotters.' No photos from the interior have been released and little is known about the inside of the ship beyond what could be seen from exterior photos during a refit it underwent in 2015.
Steven Spielberg (Seven Seas)
Why was this not named the Sea-ven Spielberg? Steven Spielberg's yacht is named the Seven Seas and is known for having one of the best superyacht pools. The Seven Seas has six guest cabins and can accommodate twenty-three crew members. The $200 million megayacht also features a jacuzzi, floor-to-ceiling windows that can be opened to make the dining room open-air, a gym, and jet skis. Fittingly, there's also a movie theatre-sized screen in the main salon. Steven also owns his own private jet and is building a second yacht, proving you really can have it all.
Billy Joel (Vendetta)
Did you know "Piano Man" Billy Joel has a second career as a celebrity yacht designer? Billy is a yacht fanatic whose had many, many vessels over the years, but Vendetta is his 'commuter yacht.' Vendetta is meant to be a replica of classic gentlemen's commuter launches from the 1920s. Another of Billy's five yachts is the twenty-nine-meter Audacious, which was renamed Miss Sarah J and converted to house some of his many motorcycles. Billy is a man on the move. Billy helped design the Vendetta, a testament to his love of yachting.
U2’s The Edge and Bono (Cyan)
Cyan has been said to be the property of both Bono and The Edge, U2 bandmates and possibly co-parents of this lovely yacht. Cyan has one of the best outdoor cinemas on a superyacht and can accommodate ten guests in addition to crew members. It also features a jacuzzi, a top-of-the-range stereo system, tenders, Seabobs, and Waverunners, a baby grand piano, and a fully-equipped gym. Cyan cost twelve million euros, and has a swimming platform and luxury bar, leading The Edge to call it "a really hip ship!". Edge and Bono also co-owned a luxury villa on the French Riviera.
Eric Clapton (Va Bene)
Eric Clapton is going to make a passion for yachting super rock-and-roll. The yacht enthusiast owns Va Bene, which was put up for sale in 2018, and the Blue Guitar. Va Bene can host twelve guests and twelve crew members while Blue Guitar fits seven guests and five crew members, making it much larger than my family home and also possibly my apartment complex. Va Bene's key features are a BBQ, an RYA watersports center, a jacuzzi, and Zero speed stabilizers. There's also a casual and a formal dining room and karaoke! "Layla," anyone?
Nicole Kidman (Hokulani)
Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country superstar husband Keith Urban co-own the Hokulani, which is actually named after Nicole's "Hawaiian name" given to her by her parents that Keith uses as a pet name which means heavenly star. Hokulani has tons of toys for watersports including tenders, water skis, PWCs, wakeboards, and snorkeling equipment. For fun on deck, there's an integrated entertainment system and three stories to explore inside. There's a glass atrium roof panel on the flybridge, five guest cabins for up to ten guests, room for eight crew members, and a jacuzzi.
Dolce & Gabbana (Regina D’Italia)
Iconic Italian design duo and fashion house owners Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana's yacht is party central. You can even see its installed inflatable waterslide in the photo of the fifty-one-meter-long ship. The superyacht has doorknobs shaped like golden outstretched hands, golden bathroom taps studded with rubies and sapphires, and gold-veined marble floors. The 'pleasure yacht' has a gym, a jacuzzi, a pool, and rooms each with an exotic animal theme: giraffe, elephant, crocodile, and rhino. The yacht, named "Regina d'Italia" is a hot-spot for model parties and celebrities looking to have a discreet good time.
Sean “Diddy” Combs (The Maraya)
Sean "Diddy" Combs or The Artist Formerly Known As P. Diddy owns this fifty-four meter, sixty-five million dollar yacht. The Maraya has a nightclub on the top floor complete with a bar, stage, and projection booth. Maraya has radio-controlled miniature yachts and a ski boat for exploring the open seas. There are five decks on board the ship accommodating up to twelve guests and ten crew members. One of the crew member's most important jobs is making sure there are always freshly baked chocolate chip cookies on-board, which is by far the best use of ridiculous wealth I have *ever* heard.
Calvin Klein (Vantage)
Designers really seem to love their yachts. Calvin Klein's Vantage is known as a hotspot for Cannes Film Festival parties including the 2011 opening night party and was designed by the same team that created Steven Spielberg's Seven Seas. The Vantage has 'relaxation pads' all over it, multiple jacuzzis, a barbeque, and a bar. The superyacht can host twelve guests in its five rooms and nine crew members. The boat is 150 feet long with marble ensuite bathrooms and cream and brown upholstered cabins fit for a fashion mogul and his rich, famous friends.
Leonardo DiCaprio (Rising Sun)
At the time of its building, Leonardo DiCaprio's Rising Sun was the eleventh largest yacht in the world. The yacht can accommodate fourteen guests and forty-five crew members, and it cost over $200 million to build. Oh, and its helipad transforms into a basketball court when it isn't housing a helicopter. Is this how Leo gets all of those models to date him now that he's solidly middle-aged? That would make a ton of sense; this yacht is an amazing mid-life crisis boat with a wine cellar and a cinema onboard. Technically, this boat is owned by the prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Leo just rents it out whenever he wants a dope ride. NBD.
Nicolas Cage (Sarita)
So, safe to say Nicolas Cage probably lost his amazing superyacht, Sarita, when he had to declare bankruptcy after doing a bunch of dumb stuff with his movie star money like buying four yachts. Nic spent twenty million dollars on this yacht alone and is said to have tried to keep it and sell the other three because he loved Sarita so much. Sarita can house twelve guests and has a full wet bar in addition to its water sports equipment. Nic also bought nine Rolls Royces and a dinosaur skull on his way to being broke like the rest of us, which is kind of hilarious.
Beyoncé (Galactica Star)
Of course Beyoncé has a yacht, she's ~Beyoncé~. The 213-feet long ship is called the Galactica Star and it houses up to twelve guests onboard. Her guests can experience the amazing life of being Queen B with Galactica Star's amenities including a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, and a helipad. The yacht is technically owned by a fugitive Nigerian playboy named Kola Aluko who doesn't lease the ship out, so yacht enthusiasts are super jealous that Beyoncé somehow knows how to lease it at a cost of nine hundred thousand dollars per week. Fun fact: Kola once spent $1.5 million on champagne.
The Beckhams (Seafair)
David and Victoria Beckham invested in superyacht the Seafair, which they've used to take family vacations and visit with 'Uncle Elton' aka Elton John, who David has known for over twenty-five years. The ship cost around four million dollars and can fit eight guests in its luxury accommodations — four ensuite bedrooms and two crew cabin rooms. The vessel is ninety-four feet long and has a gym on board for the First Family of Football. The yacht has also been nicknamed "The Sophisticated Lady." Whether that's in reference to the ship's class interiors or the family matriarch Posh remains to be seen.
Kendall Jenner (Axioma)
Kendall Jenner is another celeb who's chosen to lease the same yacht whenever they need a nice boating adventure rather than committing to buying a yacht. This is how you don't end up bankrupt like Nicolas Cage, people! Kendall chartered the Axioma during the Monaco Grand Prix in 2015 for her nineteenth birthday party with Bella and Gigi Hadid and Hailey Baldwin Bieber. Axioma has room for twelve guests and is decked out with an infinity pool, gym, steam room, massage room, 3D cinema, and a hot tub. There's also a bar by the pool and an atrium-style main saloon.
David Geffen (Rising Sun)
David Geffen is a co-creator of DreamWorks Pictures, which is a great way to get rich enough to buy a superyacht. Rising Sun has eighty-two rooms on board and jacuzzis in each of its nine cabin's bathrooms. There's also a basketball court, a helipad, a wine cellar, and a movie theater, making it one of the largest superyachts in the world. Rising Sun cost over $200 million to build and has been borrowed by the Obamas and Julia Roberts. David also owns the Pelorus, another of the largest yachts in the world, but the smaller of the two.
Richard Branson (Necker Belle)
While many best know Richard Branson as the guy in those Virgin Airlines commercials, the British multi-billionaire owns four-hundred companies under the Virgin Group umbrella. Richard was knighted in 2000 for his entrepreneurship, and his superyacht is one of the fastest catamarans in the world. Necker Belle can travel up to twenty knots and can house up to ten guests. Necker Belle cost over five million dollars and comes with a submarine called the Necker Nymph. Necker Belle has an open-air cinema as well, in case you get bored with the submarine and need something to do.
Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt and his then-wife Angelina Jolie spent over $320 million on their superyacht and another $200 thousand to decorate the vessel including woodwork by Razzardi. It includes technology that can disrupt paparazzi digital cameras, but the Jolie/Pitts have never set sail on their personal yacht. They regularly rented the Ghost I pre-split, and there have been rumors that Brad bought another seven and a half million dollar yacht that sleeps eight in 2013. Little is known about the private family's boating habits, but they seem to really love their classic sail yachts.
Roman Abramovich (Eclipse)
Roman Abramovich has bought over seven yachts, enough to be considered a fleet. His flagship yacht, Eclipse, was once the largest yacht in the world and resembles a really big Carnival cruise ship. Roman is the twelfth richest man in Russia, the owner of Chelsea football club, and a multi-billionaire, so the $500 million he spent on Eclipse wasn't that big of a deal to him. It is equipped with anti-paparazzi systems and has nine decks, a swimming pool, helicopters, a sundeck, another pool, an atrium, a disco, a beach club, a beauty salon, and of course, jacuzzis.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Aya London)
Cristiano Ronaldo's yacht is better known for the scandals surrounding it than the yacht itself after it was raided by armed customs officials in 2017. Aya London houses up to nine guests in its suites including Cristiano's VIP room and includes many areas for tanning and a diving board. Cristiano and his family have also been seen playing on jet skits attached to the Aya London. Surprisingly, unlike literally every other yacht on this list, Aya London does not have a jacuzzi. The yacht is said to have cost around seven million euros, or roughly eight million US dollars.
Gwyneth Paltrow (Silolona)
Gwenyth Paltrow likes to charter the Silolona, which she wrote about on Goop. The Silolona is chartered in Indonesia and features a BBQ, a platform for swimming with a deck shower, waterskis, multiple kayaks, on-ship diving instructors, snorkeling gear, and can house up to ten guests in its five cabins. The ship's chef specializes in Asian-inspired dishes fitting the ship's port, and Gwenyth shared the recipes for his Sambal Colo Colo salsa, Tempe Manis, and Pepes Ikan in her blog post about her family trip to the archipelago. The ship is roughly $82 thousand dollars to charter weekly.
Michael Jordan (Mr. Terrible)
Michael Jordan (the basketball player, not the actor) owns his mega-yacht, Mr. Terrible. It has a bar, a Bubinga wood staircase, a jacooz (obvi), Art Deco-Tropicana decorations, and special fishing amenities including a rod locker, live bait, and an underwater camera to see the fish under the boat. Michael's guests can stay in one of four staterooms, each designed with their own styles and color schemes. Mr. Terrible is 154-feet long and has an outdoor dining area and a dining room with a chandelier. Mr. Terrible is available to charter when Michael isn't using it for $179,500/week.
Mariah Carey (Capri)
Mariah Carey and her former fiancé James Packard had his-and-hers yachts during their engagement. Mariah's yacht, Capri, is 192-feet and costs $340,000/week to charter. Capri has six cabins to accommodate twelve guests including its master cabin and features a gym on-board in addition to its on-deck jacuzzi. Capri also houses fifteen crew members and includes a formal dining room, a sky lounge with a theatre, and a bar. Capri's observation deck can be either a sundeck or a helipad, depending on necessity, and has kayaks, waterskis, a trampoline, scuba gear, fishing equipment, and a dive compressor.
James Packer (Arctic P)
James Packer's Arctic P also accommodates twelve people, but houses twenty-five crew members. It is 297-feet long and has a helipad on its deck. There's also an observation tower, amphitheater, jacuzzi, and swimming pool. The ship has been host to celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio and Miranda Kerr. There's also a massive water slide on the side of the yacht and another, hidden swimming pool in its beach club. There's a spa bathtub in the master ensuite and floor-to-ceiling window-door for unparalleled views of the ocean, and the yacht has a library and a gym onboard.
Simon Cowell (Slipstream)
Simon Cowell's $73 million yacht Slipstream is 197-feet and can be chartered for $405 thousand per week. There are six guest cabins to accommodate up to twelve guests and features an outdoor theatre, waterslide, smoke machine, bubble machine, jacuzzi, gym, Nintendo Wii, and an X-Box. There's also a karaoke machine for any masochists that feel like belting '00s hits for the American Idol judge while he's on vacation. There's a glass-topped bar next to the jacuzzi and button-controlled blackout shades in the cinema. The outdoor dining area has wind-shielding glass doors and there's Canadian artwork at the stairs.
Justin Bieber (Ecstasea)
Justin Bieber's superyacht is 282-feet and is named Ecstasea, which is a 10/10 pun. Ecstasea cost $120 million and can house fifteen guests in its eight cabins. It has a crew of twenty-seven and amenities such as a helipad that can fit two helicopters, a jacuzzi, a gym, and watersports toys including water skis, wakeboards, kayaks, paddleboards, and mountain bikes. Sophia Richie, Barbara Palvin, and Selena Gomez had all been seen relaxing on the Bieb's superyacht, but that was before his highly-publicized marriage to Haily Baldwin Bieber. There are also several bars and steam, sauna, and massage rooms.
Rihanna (Latitude)
When Rihanna chills in Ibiza, she does it on the $23 million superyacht Latitude. The 170-feet yacht sleeps twelve in six rooms and has thirteen crew members aboard. Latitude can be chartered for $284 thousand, and guests can take advantage of the ship's jacuzzi, gym, outdoor decks, helipad, and watersport toys. There's an onboard elevator, a full wet bar, and an 18,000-liter fresh water swimming pool. Latitude was designed for global trips and was leased out for a three-year exploration and fishing expedition in the far Pacific islands in 2015, so RiRi hasn't been seen enjoying her charter in a while.
Bill Gates (The Serene)
Bill Gates is worth $91.8 billion, so naturally, his yacht is insane. At 439-feet, The Serene is a $330 million yacht that can be chartered for five million dollars per week. There are fifteen guest cabins for twenty-four guests, a crew of fifty-two, a salt-water swimming pool indoors, a jet stream swimming pool on the sundeck, a gym, an elevator, and a fully-staffed kitchen with a private chef. There's also a helicopter hanger, two helipads, a submarine garage, and a cinema. It's also wheelchair accessible, which is really nice. There's a grand piano in the atrium, a bar next to the pool, and a stone fireplace in one of the many living areas.
Elton John (Wabi Sabi)
Elton John's 164-foot megayacht Wabi Sabi is worth nearly $26 million and can sleep eighteen guests in eight rooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, and has an onboard crew of twelve. There's a library, a gym, a BBQ, a swimming platform, a massage room, and an entertainment center with a fifty-inch plasma screen television. Wabi Sabi has a maximum speed of 24 knots and a cruising speed on 15 knots, and she is not available to charter. Oh, and of course, Wabi Sabi features a covered jacuzzi on its deck with a bar behind it.
Oprah Winfrey (Trending)
Oprah Winfry's $60 million yacht is named Trending because Oprah is eternally hip! The billionaire's yacht sleeps up to twelve guests in six rooms and there are ten million crew members onboard. Oprah has hosted famous friends such as the Obamas, Princess Beatrice, and Russell Crowe on Trending, which features a jacuzzi that can fit ten people, a gym, an elevator, and multiple dining rooms and bars. The ship also has an extended sky lounge and a huge collection of water toys. Trending can be chartered for $238,500 per week plus expenses if you want to live where Oprah has lived.
Tony Parker (Kando 110)
NBA all-star Tony Parker commissioned this 114-foot long Ava Yachts Kando 110 in December 2018, with a completion date in 2020. The superyacht will have room for twelve guests in six cabins, six onboard crew members, and a separate captain's double cabin. Specifics about the series of yachts by the superyacht creators haven't been released, as this is only the second yacht in the series. Safe to say it will likely have a jacuzzi. The Kando 110 cost over seven million dollars and will definitely have a beach club with a swimming platform and an interior designed by Tony and his wife.
David Gilmour (Astoria)
Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour owns the beautiful yacht/houseboat Astoria that has been permanently anchored on the River Thames in Greater London near Hampton. The boat was built in 1911 so a ninety-piece orchestra could play on its deck. This 88-foot yacht has an in-house recording studio in addition to its three cabins and is primarily used as a recording studio rather than a residence for David and for its original owner, impresario Fred Karno, who is best known as the man who originated slapstick comedy. The yacht was the recording site for many Pink Floyd records and much of David's solo work.
Andrey Melnichenko (A)
Russian billionaires really love yachts. Andrey Melnichenko's superyacht A is nearly 400-feet long and houses fourteen guests in its six guest suites. These suites can be converted to four massive staterooms, and the yacht has a mechanical king-sized bed that can rotate to face any direction for the best sea views. There are three swimming pools, one of which has a glass bottom that can be seen from the yacht's disco, and Baccarat crystal tables. The ship is very safe, with over forty security cameras, bombproof glass windows, and an escape pod. The master suite is only accessible by a biometric fingerprint scanner, and there's a helipad onboard for quick escapes.
Sir Philip Green (Lionheart)
Sir Phillip Green is best known as the owner of TopShop, and also as the guy who hired Destiny's Child and Andrea Bocelli for his son's Bar Mitzvah and One Direction for his nephew's Bar Mitzvah. The billionaire's forty-one million dollar superyacht, the Lionheart, has six staterooms for twelve guests and cabin space for sixteen crew members. In addition to standard amenities like a bar, a jacuzzi, and a state-of-the-art sound system, the Lionheart has a helipad, extra hot tubs, and a swimming pool. This is Phillip's third superyacht (and he owns two private jets).
