It’s Official! Colton Underwood Is The Next Bachelor
ABC has found its next leading man! After getting his heart broken on Becca Kufrin‘s season of The Bachelorette and then breaking Tia Booth‘s on Bachelor in Paradise, Colton Underwood has officially been named the next star of The Bachelor! The announcement was made this morning, Tuesday, September 4th on Good Morning America, where the 26-year-old said he’s looking to find his happily ever after. Ladies, that means you’ve still got a chance!
“I’m very excited,” the former pro football player told GMA host Michael Strahan. “Third time’s a charm. That’s what they say, right? That’s what I’m hoping for.” Colton also said he hopes his season “absolutely” ends with a proposal “and just getting married shortly after that.”
“One thing I took pride in on both seasons was being true to who I am,” he added, referring to the fact that he publicly revealed that he was a virgin during Becca’s season. “It took all of that to get to where I’m at now and know who I am as a person and know what I want in a life partner.”

But, don’t expect Tia to make an appearance on his season. “We are finally on the same page, for the first time in our relationship,” Colton said, “and we are just good friends.”
The two ultimately called it quits on last night’s episode of Paradise after Colton confessed that he couldn’t see a long-term relationship panning out between them. Colton later addressed the breakup in an Instagram post, thanking Tia for “teaching me even more about myself, and most importantly, for your friendship that I know will continue far beyond Paradise.”
Thank you for teaching me even more about myself, and most importantly, for your friendship that I know will continue far beyond Paradise. Don’t settle for anything less than the world, because that’s what you deserve. Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you and catch up on life some day, preferably over a hot dog dinner.
Colton will be the first-ever virgin Bachelor, something that will likely be at the forefront of his story when The Bachelor premieres next year. Host Chris Harrison recently told Entertainment Tonight that he thinks Bachelor Nation will find the virgin angle “fascinating in this day and age,” adding that “the women having to deal with that — I think it would be a fascinating story. And that’s a lot of what makes a good Bachelor. It’s a compelling argument if he’s single and willing to do it.”
Sean Lowe, who starred as The Bachelor in 2013, was a born-again virgin and he remains the only successful Bachelor to date. His fairy-tale romance with his final pick Catherine Lowe Giudici resulted in a marriage and two children. Basically, it’s what a Bachelor producer’s dreams are made of. Therefore, the show must feel like Colton has the potential to be the next Sean.
Hmmmm, we’ll just have to wait and see whether or not Colton will be Sean 2.0 during the next season of The Bachelor, which is expected to air on ABC in January 2019!
