We’ve got some new details involving the night that Demi Lovato overdosed. A man named Brandon Johnson, who claims to be the singer’s former drug dealer, spoke to a TMZ reporter about his “sexual” relationship with Demi, claiming that he supplied her with the drugs that led to her eventual hospitalization on July 24. So, why the heck is he spilling so much tea? We think it has something to do with the fact that a lot of people quickly pointed the blame to him after her overdose.

When he was asked if Demi was aware of the kind of drug she was consuming, he became a little defensive. “A hundred percent she knew what she was taking. I had disclosed to her that these are not, you know, pharmaceutical, they’re after-market pills. They’re much stronger,” he explained, admitting that he got the pills from Mexico, but denying he knew they were laced with fentanyl.

He went on to say that she fully understood and that what happened next was very unfortunate. “For people to think that there was any misconception on my behalf is absolutely ridiculous,” he continued. “I’m not here to hurt anybody. I care for her very much. She means a lot to me.”

Brandon even went as far as revealing that his and Demi’s relationship was more than just transactional. According to him, their relationship began as a “flirty friendship,” which later became “sexual.” He didn’t go into specifics, but he said that he and the 25-year-old would “kick it” all the time and that the night of her overdose, she called him at around 4:00 AM to bring her drugs. He then claimed that he left the house a few hours later after he had tucked Demi into bed.

“When I was with her, she was fine the whole time… She fell asleep, it happens all the time. We hang out, we do whatever we need to do, and she ends up passing out. It was already like, you know 7, 8 0’clock. She passed out, and I leave as I normally do,” he said.

The TMZ reporter then asked, “So when you left she seemed fine? She was just sleeping?” to which he responded, “She was sleeping. I put her under the covers, tucked her in. Sleeping.”

When asked whether or not the incident has opened his eyes, Brandon once again tried to shift the blame on her, saying, “It’d definitely a wakeup call for her obviously, but it definitely opens my eyes to the dangers of these drugs. They’re fun, but in the wrong hands… they can be harmful. I hate to hurt anybody. I’m not trying to hurt my friend… I hope she comes through this better than she was.”

As previously reported, Demi was found unconscious by her assistant at around 11:30 AM on July 24 in her Beverly Hills home. She then reportedly received Narcan, a lifesaving drug that counteracts opioids, after paramedics arrived. Following her two-week hospital stay, she issued a statement on Instagram, promising her fans that she will keep fighting. She’s currently in an out-of-state rehab facility seeking long-term treatment which is expected to last a few months.

Demi has been open and honest about her struggles with addiction, so hopefully, once she’s well again she can tell us her side of the story (if she wants to, of course).
