If there’s one thing that we should know by now, it’s that Disney Channel stars can surprise you. While some break the “Disney kid” stereotype by taking on more ~adult~ roles, others make sure it’s known that they’re not little kids anymore in slightly different ways. And, sometimes, it’s completely unintentional.

On Monday, Wizards of Waverly Place actor David Henrie was arrested at LAX after the TSA found a loaded gun carried among his belongings at the airport. TMZ reported that he was immediately detained and taken to a police station soon after.

David’s not the first – and he likely won’t be the last – Disney star who has run into some legal troubles. That’s So Raven‘s Orlando Brown has taken his fair share of mug shots, and you could say the same about Even StevensShia LaBeouf as well.

However, the 29-year old actor, who is expecting a child with his wife Maria Cahill, quickly took to Twitter to tell the world that it was all a misunderstanding – and that his M&P Shield 9mm pistol was legally owned.

“I take responsibility for the situation at LAX today,” he wrote in a text post. “I unintentionally brought my legally owned gun which is registered in my name to the airport. I am so sorry for any trouble it caused, but I am appreciative for TSA’s efforts in implementing the safety laws that are in place to protect this beautiful country. More than anything I am humiliated and embarrassed that this even happened… But I am thankful to the TSA, LAPD and all involved today for their kindness and their professionalism during this process.”

He then retweeted a statement from the LAPD that thanked him for his statement.

Well, it looks like what could have been a very, very sticky situation was solved just as quickly as it started. And while we’re happy that David Henrie slid through this scandal with very little damage, we do need to think about how his privilege may have played a part in this particular encounter.
