The Flash’s Grant Gustin Slams Body Shamers After Photo Leak Drama
Looks like this speedster isn’t having a very good day. In an Instagram post, The Flash actor Grant Gustin clapped back at body shamers who said he looked “too thin.” He also posted an IG Story looking pretty distressed. But let’s rewind a bit here to where the drama began.
First, fans were up in arms about a photo leak of Grant that showed The Flash’s new costume for season five of The CW show. Many said it was a downgrade from the previous suit, though it was a little more consistent with designs in the original DC Comics.
I respect that the CW is trying to go comic accurate but their delivery is poor. Since the CW is probably ditching the loose leather suits and going for tighter shit, Grant Gustin needs to bulk up. Other than that this suit looks like the 2003 daredevil suit and a red condom. pic.twitter.com/nTRqBtfMbW

While it’s pretty messed up in the first place to leak a photo of the unfinished costume design, what’s worse is that many started calling out the real-life version of Barry Allen for not being “buff enough” to sport the new suit. One commenter wrote, “lets mention the fact that Grant Gustin is a stick and needs to buff asap or else it’ll look like the crappy JL suit,” while another tweeted, “OH GOD, please either be unfinished or have Grant Gustin hit the gym because this looks so bleh I’m sorry.”
Clearly, some people just forgot that celebrities are human beings with feelings, just like the rest of us. Grant Gustin caught wind of the comments and they kind of hit him in the jugular. In a text post he uploaded to both his Instagram page and Story, he wrote, “As far as the body shaming. That’s what pisses me off. Not even just for my sake. I’ve had 20+ years of kids and adults telling me or my parents I was too thin. I’ve had my own journey of accepting it. But there’s a double standard where it’s ok to talk sh*t about a dudes body.”
He continued, “I’m happy with my body and who I am and other kids who are built like me and thinner than me should be able to feel the same way.” You can read the whole post below:
He had also posted the following Instagram Story, but it has since been deleted:

Of course, *real fans* came through and there was overwhelming support for the 28-year-old actor on Twitter after his post went viral.
Can you all leave Grant Gustin the fuck ALONE? Don't tag him, don't talk about things you know, cancel your account and leave BYE

I'm now hearing about the leaked photo about The flash new shot for S5. First of all, if you're claiming yourself as a fan of "The Flash" and yet bodyshaming Grant….your joking right? EVERYONE'S BODY IS DIFFERENT.

We shouldn’t even have to say that dissing someone for something as trivial as their weight or body type is never okay – whether they’re a guy or a gal. Even if you hate the new costume, that’s no reason to drag a dude for something he obviously has no control over. Oh, and for the record, Grant loves the suit.
