Sierra Burgess Is a Loser Star Shannon Purser Gushes About Her First Kiss With Noah Centineo
Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for! Sierra Burgess Is A Loser, starring our collective internet boyfriend Noah Centineo, officially premiered on Netflix – and to say we’re excited would be a complete understatement. The film also stars former Stranger Things star and Riverdale actress, Shannon Purser in her first-ever leading role! But, this isn’t the actress’s only first with the film because she recently admitted that she experienced her first on-screen kiss, too… with Noah! Jealous feels ensue.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, Shannon opened up about the moment, revealing that Noah was so sweet and helpful during the scene. “Noah was also my first on-screen kiss, which I was very terrified about at the time. And he was so sweet about it,” she said. “What you see is what you get with him. I feel like, especially in Hollywood, you meet people with ulterior motives, who are trying to get something from you. Noah was just like genuinely kind and lovable from day one.”
Shannon elaborated on her experience with Entertainment Tonight, admitting that she was pretty nervous and not prepared at all. However, she thinks her nerves added to the authenticity of the moment, which she described as “so honest and nerve-wracking the way when you’re a kid falling in love for the first time.” Oh, we get it, girl! We feel that way about Noah ALL the time.
Meanwhile, the actor also got candid about the kiss and even though he’s experienced quite a few on-screen smooches before – like in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and on The Fosters – it went perfectly. “It was so much fun to film. The scene was great, super cute, gotta love it, you’re gonna love it I promise,” he said before giving it a perfect rating. “I’d give it an 11, that was an 11.”
When he says things like that, it’s easy to understand why we’re all so obsessed with Noah. Even Shannon seems pretty smitten with him, telling Teen Vogue, “It is so wild to see the entire world fall in love with him in the span of two weeks. But he’s wonderful. He truly is. He’s such a poet.”
Is anyone else swooning RN? We haven’t even watched the movie yet and we’re loving these two! It’s safe to assume that fans will fall in love with Jamey and Sierra just like they did with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before characters, Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Covey.
The movie follows a teenage girl named Sierra Burgess (Shannon) who falls in love with a football jock named Jamey (Noah) after he texts her number thinking she’s someone else. Sparks between them fly, but in order to keep talking to him, Sierra teams up with Veronica (Kristine Froseth) — the cheerleader Jamey thinks he’s talking to — and they devise a plan to win over his heart.
