The Hills Is Officially Coming Back To MTV – But Without Lauren Conrad & Other Fan-Favorites
Are you ready for a new beginning? We definitely are. After months of speculation, it’s finally been confirmed that MTV is bringing back The Hills! During Monday night’s MTV VMAs, it was announced that the cast of the hit reality show will be reuniting for a new series called The Hills: New Beginnings – well, at least some of the cast. Spencer and Heidi Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Justin Bobby, and more will return for the reboot to “carry on The Hills legacy.”
Spencer, Heidi, Audrina, Justin, as well as Jason Wahler, Stephanie Pratt, and Frankie Delgado all showed up for the awards show to walk the red carpet together, causing fans to believe this was the reunion the network has been teasing all this time. But they were sorely mistaken because, during the show, MTV made the announcement they’d all been waiting to hear! Unfortunately, fan-favorites Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, and Whitney Port will reportedly not be involved.

According to People, Kristen will not join the reboot since she has a contract with E! for her new reality show, Very Cavallari that would conflict with the one proposed by MTV. As for the others, it seems like they just don’t want to be a part it. As much we’d love to see LC make an appearance, (even if it’s for one episode!), it seems very unlikely given her recent comments about not wanting to televise her personal life anymore. “I don’t think I would do another show that involved my family,” she told HuffPost last year. “I spent a lot of years on a show focused on my personal life, so I don’t think I’d do it again.”
Another original member that won’t be involved? Lo Bosworth, who revealed on her podcast in February that a TV executive had reached out asking if she would be interested in a reboot. “I was like, ‘F*ck, no! I don’t want any association with those people,’” she blatantly said.
But, despite some of our faves choosing not to return, Us Weekly reports that there will be new faces added to the mix, including a celebrity and two bloggers that have been added to the cast.
Some might argue that The Hills returning without Lauren and Kristin is not exactly a perfect reboot, but after the success of the Jersey Shore revival, it’s worth a shot. After all, this new season includes the ~thirstiest~ members of the cast, which we know makes for good TV.
Though no official release date has been confirmed, the reboot is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2019. During the VMAs, MTV debuted a teaser trailer for the new season of The Hills: New Beginnings, which will reunite the original stars, as well as feature their children and friends, as we follow their lives in Los Angeles years after the original series came to an end in 2010.
“It’s like we’re all growing up. It’s weird,” Stephanie can be overheard saying in the clip, which includes a new version of the show’s classic theme song, “Unwritten.”
