To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Star Noah Centineo Says His Co-Star Lana Condor Once Totally Rejected Him
If you’re like us, then there’s a pretty good chance you’re obsessed with the newest Netflix rom-com, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. You probably also fell in love with the film’s lead stars, Noah Centineo and Lana Condor, who have the most undeniable on-screen (and off-screen) chemistry. But, while we find it very hard to believe that anyone would reject a face as cute as his, Noah revealed that his co-star totally rejected him when they first met at auditions!
In an appearance on E!‘s Daily Pop, the actor shared his side of the story about their first encounter – and let’s just say Lana bruised his ego. “When we first met in the audition room before any of us had booked it, we were sitting waiting in like the lobby and I saw her and I was like, ‘Hey do you want to run lines?’ And she was like, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool, fine, I’ll just die here,'” he said.
“I didn’t even remember asking her that. She had actually told that story months later in the press,” Noah continued. “Then we just read together and it was… [perfect].”
Earlier this month, while promoting the movie on a press tour, Lana told The Cut that she was so nervous for her audition that when Noah walked through the door and asked her to read lines with him, she blatantly refused. Funny enough, the two later met again months later for a chemistry read for their parts as Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Covey. The rest is pretty much history!
Noah revealed that one of the reasons why he asked Lana to read lines with him is because she looked so nervous. So being the adorable man that he is, he thought he’d help her out.
“I ask people to read lines in the audition room if they look nervous!” he said. “It’s always easier if you’re running with a stranger before do it with the casting director. It helps you get the nerves out. And if someone else looks nervous, then it totally is gonna help them too. If you can do it with some random person you just met, you can easily go into a room and do it again.”
Ugh, cutie! Just when we thought we couldn’t love this guy any more than we already do, he goes and says things like that! It’s no wonder Lana adores him. In fact, they love each other so much (and constantly show it on social media) that fans are convinced they’re dating IRL. Unfortunately, there’s good news and bad: she has a boyfriend, but that also means that Noah is currently single AF.
Though he didn’t offer any details about his life love during his E! interview, he did shoot down any hopes we might have had about dating him. “I don’t close any doors totally [about dating fans], but probably not, because then it’s like more of an infatuation with like, a position more than like, the person,” he said. “It can overshadow that, which is difficult, I would think.”
