BTS Singer Namjoon Says He’s Struggling With Revealing His Weaknesses

BTS‘s album Map Of The Soul: 7 is finally here and the ARMY is being fed well. The K-Pop group was on The Today Show to speak on Friday and held a YouTube press conference to talk about what went into making 7 and their plans for the future.

While speaking during the press conference, Namjoon AKA RM explained how he cried while writing some of the more somber songs on this album.

“While working on the downtempo songs like ‘We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal’ and ‘Louder Than Bombs’ I cried a lot while writing the songs alone in the studio thinking of the past. I think I’m still struggling with revealing my weaker sides as they are and accepting them. In a way, I’ve always had a fear of continually expressing the fact that we — or I still have such hardships and fears,” Namjoon said.

He continued, “Looking back at the seven years, going back to the beginning, there were times we were completely clueless, times we’ve made mistakes, and things I felt we’d done well.”

The complete press conference, where Namjoon and his bandmates Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook is available to be streamed in complete on YouTube and you can watch below. For only-English speakers, certain portions do have subtitiles.

7: Map of The Soul released February 21, 2020. It’s the fourth studio album from BTS and the ‘7’ represents the seven members of the band and the seven years the K-Pop group has been together. Oh, and it’s full of bops.
