Fans Notice Easter Egg For Chilling Adventures Part 3 On Riverdale Season 4
We don’t want to live in a world where Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale crossovers don’t exist, and lucky for us, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wouldn’t let that happen anyways. CAOS, Riverdale, and RAS’s newest Katy Keene all exist within the same universe, but because the Kiernan Shipka-lead show is a Netflix Original and the other two are rockin’ it on The CW, we haven’t seen a dedicated crossover episode between Riverdale and its witchy sister show (yet).
We have, however, seen many Easter Eggs that confirm the shows are in the same universe and even a character who crossed over during Chilling Adventures‘ first season. Now, while some Riverdale fans are catching up with season four during its mid-season break, they’re noticing things others may not have — thanks to the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina trailer and debut images that dropped yesterday.
One of the new images shows Sabrina and her cat, Salem, entering a creepy carnival at night.
But an observant Riverdale viewer noticed that this carnival was foreshadowed on The CW on December 4 when they aired RD‘s eighth episode of season four. Jughead Jones’s dad, played by Skeet Ulrich gets a mysterious tape on his doorstep — underneath a newspaper that reads, “Carcosa Carnival Comes To Greendale.”
For those who would like a closer look, you can see the stacked photos, shared by HalfBloodMockingJay on Reddit.
Naturally, this has fans convinced that a crossover episode is imminent. One Redditor wrote, “I just feel that season 4 spring air time and CAOS part 3 are both returning to closely together for there not to be a crossover.”
However, RAS has said that *if* a crossover between the two shows will happen, it’s going to be through a feature-length film.
“I would hate if there was no way possible for there ever to be a crossover,” Roberto told Entertainment Weekly. “I think there’d be a great episode where the Riverdale kids hear about a haunted house in Greendale and try to break in and it’s Sabrina’s house. There’s totally a universe where that happens. Or now that we’ve got Sabrina and Riverdale, maybe there’s a standalone Afterlife movie or something that we can do combining both casts.”
The Easter Egg clue was noticed soon after Lili Reinhart shared a selfie wearing a Sabrina Spellman-esque wig, writing, “The Chilling Adventures of Betty Cooper” below. What does it all mean?! Guess we’re just going to have to wait and see…
