Dove Cameron stopped by the beach recently to make the world a better place (AKA do a beach clean up), and while she was there, people over at Access Hollywood got a moment to chat with her about her new music — and the possibility of a Descendants 4 film. As you may recall, Descendants 3 premiered last summer and was the last film in Dove’s Disney contract after she’d starred in the first two installments and the Disney Channel original show, Liv & Maddie. While Dove stated a fourth movie isn’t “out of the question,” she also said there were no plans for it as of now and that she feels confident the franchise isn’t over — it just may not include her anymore.

“I have to be so careful with how I say this because I’ve said it wrong so many times. I don’t know [if there will be a Descendants 4],” Dove said. “I have not signed on for anything; I don’t think anybody has. I know that it’s something that isn’t out of the question but that’s not being promoted by anybody. I think it’s just kind of an open conversation. There’s no details, but I definitely don’t think the franchise is dead, I guess I would say. Whether that goes on without us? I don’t know … It could be anything.”

Elsewhere in the interview, she talked about the hold-up on her next single, teasing, “It’s on hold right now because we are kind of fine-tuning something that I think is going to be extra special that I can’t talk about right now. But if it works out, it’s going to be really, really — it’s going to be my first single with this added bonus.” A possible collaboration?

“I’ve never done my own music. I mean, I did sort of like a brief stint as a duo but that wasn’t my music, that was the duo’s music,” she said, careful not to mention Ryan McCartan, who recently accused her of cheating on him, by name. “As you grow, as you change and evolve, who you are becomes increasingly more apparent to yourself. … I guess I’m coming to terms with the fact that nobody really sees me the way that I see me.”
