This Is Not A Drill: Harry Styles Just Announced His New Album
The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived: HS2 is coming.
Harry Styles‘ follow-up to his self-titled solo debut isn’t exactly a surprise announcement for superfans who’ve spent the last month obsessing over “Lights Up,” the album’s first single, but the former One Direction crooner dropped HS2’s title, release date, and cover art on Instagram with *no warning* on Monday afternoon. Okay, well there was a little warning in the form of a cryptic tweet yesterday linking to his tie-in website, “Do You Know Who You Are?” and a barrage of posters across New York City baring his trademark TPWK (“Treat People With Kindness”) mantra, but we were still shook when Harry broke the internet just in time for lunch.
In a little over a month on December 13, Fine Line will be the early Christmas present Stylers deserve after two years of patiently waiting for Harry’s second masterpiece. The fisheye lens! The pink shirt! The mysterious gloved hand! This cover art has given us more than enough to dissect until then, but we’ve got a sneaking suspicion that Harry will be releasing Fine Line‘s second single sometime before his double-duty appearance as both the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live on November 16. ICYMI, musical guests typically (read: always) perform two songs during the live broadcast, and unless Harry is planning on bringing out Kacey Musgraves for an encore of their epic “Space Cowboy” duet from late last month, he’ll need to debut some new material to bring to Studio 8H in less than two weeks.
We’re not the only ones freaking out about Harry’s big news. His former 1D bandmate Niall Horan commented, “Yes sirrr!!” and friend of Cole Sprouse/indie darling King Princess added, “Wow this is amazing miss styles” to the flood of well-wishes. No word yet from the rest of Harry’s 1D brothers, but to be fair, it’s only been two hours since Harry’s announcement and they’re probably too busy being gorgeous to scroll Instagram 24/7.
