J.K. Rowling Fuels Rumors There’s Another Harry Potter Movie Coming
Listen up, Harry Potter stans, because this information is about to make your week/month/life. It looks like J.K. Rowling just confirmed another Harry Potter movie is on its way. No, not a Harry Potter spin-off, not another Fantastic Beasts flick, but an actual sequel to the OG Harry Potter franchise with Harry, Hermione, Ron — the works.
J.K. herself (the author of the HP book franchise) tweeted a super cryptic note to her followers yesterday. Alongside a new image of the death eater skull and Slytherin House snake, the author wrote: “Sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places #HarryPotter #CursedChild”

For those of you who aren’t hardcore HP stans, let us break this down for you. The last Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, came out in 2011, and since then we’ve been gifted two spin-off movies, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and also a play. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child first debuted on London’s West End in 2016 and is set 19 years after the final HP film. It follows the lives of Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s children and also recently opened up on Broadway (try get tickets, we dare you).
Thanks to J.K.’s tweet (which is her first in six months), fans are convinced a movie adaptation of the play is coming, and if that’s the case, there’s a good chance we’ll see Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint reprise their old roles one more time. Understandably, the HP stans have gone into meltdown.

So the author could be trolling us — it’s not like she hasn’t come out with some, err, questionable statements in the past. However, we have a good feeling about this one.
