OG Charmed Star Julian McMahon Says He Wants To Appear On CW Reboot
They really should have made The CW’s Charmed reboot a revival because basically every actor from the OG series wants to return. Yes, there was a *bit* of drama when the reboot was announced (Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano voiced dissatisfaction that they weren’t contacted about it), but aren’t we all kind of over that now?
The CW’s newest Charmed iteration has recently been renewed for a third season and now, a member of the OG cast, Julian McMahon says he’d love to be on the reboot as his original character, Cole.
“I haven’t seen the new Charmed, but I loved the old one,” the FBI: Most Wanted actor told TV Guide at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “Look, you know, it was a great show for me. When I first signed on to that show, I think it was, like, six episodes or something, and I ended up staying for three years. So, that’s how much I enjoyed being on the show, and I loved playing that character.”
He continued, “So if I had the opportunity to [be on the show] again, I would.”
The original Charmed aired for eight seasons beginning in 1998 and even after his character Cole stopped being a recurring character, Julian popped up on the show whenever his schedule would allow. It might be a little difficult to incorporate Cole/Balthazar into the reboot, though, because of the significant changes the showrunners have made to the story. Among the changes include kind of having the reboot’s own version of Cole’s character. *Spoiler alert* A half-demon named Parker Craine falls in love with the youngest Charmed One, Maggie, though he was sent by his father to destroy the witches. *Season 2 spoiler* He later becomes the ‘overlord’ of the underworld, which is similar to Cole’s arc.
That said, we don’t think anyone would be complaining about having more Julian McMahon in their lives. F*ck it, we should just get Shannen Doherty, Holly, Alyssa, and Rose McGowan as guest stars with Julian and Brian Krause! We don’t care how they explain it (Charmed Ones in a different dimension, perhaps?), just make it happen!
