Katy Keene Announces Official Release Date
The moment we’ve been waiting for is finally here! We at The Whisp have been tracking Katy Keene‘s development for *months* from Ashleigh Murray‘s Riverdale departure and Lucy Hale‘s casting to the possibility of a Riverdale/Katy Keene crossover and the first look at Katy’s leading love interest. Well, the countdown to Katy has officially begun with the Katy Keene release date set for February 6, 2020.
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared the news on Instagram after The CW’s winter midseason schedule announcement late this afternoon:
Series’ lead Lucy Hale commented, “Here we comeee” on RAS’s post in addition to sharing the good news on her own IG, adding that she is “beyond proud of this show and what it stands for.” Still, it wouldn’t be a CW show without some drama, and fan-favorite Supernatural has been bumped from its Thursdays at 8/7c to make way for Katy Keene‘s fresh blood. Supernatural will finish its fifteenth and final season on Mondays at 8/7c beginning March 16.
The series has already drawn comparisons to another fashion-based ode to NYC, Sex and the City, which is the best compliment a show about four friends living in New York could possibly recieve. While Katy Keene‘s star-studded first season (with Bernadette Peters?!) looks glamorous on its extended trailer, Lucy opened up to Access Hollywood on Wednesday about how living in New York has it downsides.
“I think it’s toughening me up a little bit,” Lucy joked. “Like, I smile on the street, and people are just like, ‘Why? What’s wrong with this girl?'”
Still, Lucy loves New York, calling it “one of the best cities in the world,” and hopefully Katy will, too!
