Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols are departing Riverdale after season four, but the ‘core four’ young stars are confirmed for another three seasons, says Archie actor KJ Apa.

During a Los Angeles Times interview for his newest flick, I Still Believe the actor who hails from New Zealand spilled that he, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, and Camila Mendes have renewed their contracts for three more years at least.

Elsewhere in the interview, he said he and his castmates have been yearning to do more movies but it’s hard given that The CW show requires they work in Vancouver ten months out of the year.

“All of us want to shoot movies,” he told the publication. “I think we’re all, in a way, craving to work on other things because we’re stuck in Vancouver on the show. Which is great — we all love working on the show.”

He continued, “But we’re all craving something else to bite into. It’s awesome that we can do that too, because I don’t know if that’s common that a lot of TV actors can funnel into film that easily. I was always kind of scared of that, like, ‘Man, I hope I can shoot movies, because I don’t want to be pegged as Archie for the rest of my life.’”

TBH, that’s completely fair. Other teen heartthrobs like Chad Michael Murray, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Tom Welling failed to really breakout of their typecasts after appearing on TV shows.

Since getting cast on Riverdale, KJ’s appeared in films The Hate U Give, A Dog’s Purpose, and The Last Summer. Costar Lili Reinhart made headlines for her role in Hustlers, Cole’s Five Feet Apart was a hit, and Cami has also been in a host of films from The New Romantic, The Perfect Date, and Palm Springs.

All four are making it work, but it must be *a lot* trying to film as many movies as possible during their short break from filming Riverdale!
