Riverdale Star Lili Reinhart Has A Big New Role: Starring In & Producing Amazon Teen Drama
She’s not just our little Betty Cooper anymore. Riverdale‘s Lili Reinhart is about to become an executive producer on a new coming-of-age drama named Chemical Hearts. Deadline has reported that Lili will star in and executive produce the Amazon Original movie which is based on the novel Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland.
Per Goodreads, Chemical Hearts, the novel, follows a 17-year-old boy named Henry Page who, “has never been in love. He fancies himself a hopeless romantic, but the slo-mo, heart palpitating, can’t-eat-can’t-sleep kind of love that he’s been hoping for just hasn’t been in the cards for him-at least not yet. Instead, he’s been happy to focus on his grades, on getting into a semi-decent college and finally becoming editor of his school newspaper. Then Grace Town walks into his first-period class on the third Tuesday of senior year and he knows everything’s about to change.” Lili will play Grace. Sounds right up Riverdale fan’s street!
This is Lili’s producing debut, and she will be joined by Page Fifty-Four’s producers Alex Saks (The Florida Project, Book Club), executive producer Jamin O’Brien (Eighth Grade), and director Richard Tanne (Southside With You).
“We are thrilled to work with this talented team to bring to life a beautiful story of first love and heartbreak,” Co-Head of Movies at Amazon Studios Julie Rapaport told Deadline. “Krystal Sutherland’s novel captured the hearts of readers around the world, and we are excited to bring this film to our global Prime Video customers.”
Filming for the movie is apparently already underway in New Jersey and once finished, it’ll be shown on Amazon Prime Video.
This isn’t the first step away from the hit CW show Riverdale that Lili has made. She’ll also star alongside Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B and Constance Wu in a new movie about the stripping industry in New York City, Hustlers, which will be in theatres this September. Betty Cooper would never, Dark Betty, however …
