Riverdale star Lili Reinhart starred in highly-beloved stripper film Hustlers earlier this year, so you’d think confidence is the least of her struggles. But after a Riverdale viewer told her that the show promoted unrealistic body expectations for teens watching by having a cast full of “chiseled” 25-year-olds, Lili responded with thoughtful words about how she feels “intimidated by the physique of my surrounding cast mates,” and hopes that her body can make viewers feel less alone.

As always, we stan Lili’s honesty. It’s also very surprising to learn that she’s been dealing with depression for the last two months. After all, the actress’s rise to fame has been absolutely skyrocketing recently, and with her CoverGirl deal, Riverdale‘s continuing success, and the reactions to Hustlers, you would think Lili should be over-the-moon. But it goes to show that depression doesn’t care what your personal circumstances are, it’s a chemical imbalance that doesn’t discriminate based on how successful your workload is.

Lili’s not the only Riverdale cast member who has opened up about how the show can, at times, fuel body dysmorphia. Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge, said that some of the tight outfits her character sports can make her feel super uncomfortable.

“It was like so the opposite of what I like to wear and it was really uncomfortable,” she said last June during POPSUGAR Play/Ground. “It made me really insecure, so it got to a point where I couldn’t get through a fitting. Thirty minutes in, I was crying … I was like, ‘Why don’t things fit me a certain way?’”

Hopefully, these two are leaning on each other and realize that their presence on a teen-centric show like Riverdale is changing young women’s lives for the better.
