We’re sorry to ruin your Wednesday so early, but it looks like The Simple Life isn’t getting rebooted after all. It all kicked off yesterday when a Simple Life Twitter account shared an old photo of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan alongside the caption “keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.” Twitter went into meltdown, obviously, with fans convinced that the iconic noughties reality show starring Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie was about to get a reboot with Lindsay Lohan.

Paris Hilton quickly put a halt to all excitement, shooting down the rumors with a *simple* tweet.
“FYI, Someone has made a fake fan account & invented this #TheSimpleLife rumor,” she tweeted. “There is no truth to it. Yes, I love that show & I was approached again to do it. But I had to say no as I have an extremely busy work schedule traveling the world running my empire.” The Twitter account that tweeted the elusive message has also since been deleted.

The Simple Life first aired on Fox in 2003, before it was taken over by E! for its two final seasons. A reboot would be fantastic news in any sense, but the fact that it was rumored to feature Lindsay Lohan made it all the more exciting. Lindsay and Paris were pals back in the early 2000s, however, they had a very public falling out which has stretched all the way up to just a few weeks ago.

While appearing on an episode of Andy Cohan‘s Watch What Happens Live in May, Paris called Lindsay “beyond,” “lame,” and “embarrassing.” Lindsay responded to Paris’s comments on Instagram in a hilariously sarcastic way, sharing a photo of the two that has since been deleted with the caption: “#beyond friends are true. Love @parishilton congratulations on your new song!” LOL.

Paris DID say that she has been approached to reboot the show before, but she’s just too busy. We hope this means we don’t have to give up on a Simple Life reboot all together!
