Fred Andrews Likely To Die On Riverdale Premiere & We Are Not Emotionally Ready
The stars of Riverdale have been back on set for less than a week, and things have already gotten emotional. Earlier this week the cast gathered for a table read of season four’s first episode, which is titled “In Memoriam,” and will pay tribute to late Riverdale actor Luke Perry, who played Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews. Judging from the cast’s social media posts, we’re willing to bet that the way the show deals with Fred’s absence is going to throw us into emotional turmoil.
On Tuesday, Vanessa Morgan, who plays Toni Topaz on the show, replied to a fan’s tweet to share her feelings about the show’s heartwrenching opening episode.
Cried so hard during the table read. Beautifully written epsiode.

Vanessa isn’t the only cast member to comment on how the show is honoring Luke. Mädchen Amick, who plays Alice Cooper, posted a photo of the table read to Instagram, where she left a sweet note about the late actor’s influence. Fellow Riverdale star Lili Reinhart reposted the photo to her Instagram Story.
There are a number of ways that a show can deal with the death of an actor. Given the cast’s reaction to just the table read of the episode, we believe that Riverdale has chosen to kill Fred Andrews off on the show. It remains to be seen if his death with serve to further any of Riverdale‘s existing storylines (we have to assume it’ll throw KJ Apa‘s Archie for a loop), or if it will be unrelated to the many nefarious goings-on in everyone’s favorite tortured hometown. What we do know for sure is that we *will* be crying.
