Shadowhunters Cast Reacts To Tonight’s Series Finale

By  |

Shadowhunters cast and fans knew this moment was coming, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Freeform announced they would be canceling Shadowhunters in 2018, but allowed it to have a two-hours series finale wrap-up, and somehow May 6, 2019 is here already. Of course, the actors who played characters based on The Mortal Instruments book series have a lot of feelings about leaving the people they spent three seasons portraying behind.

The *star* of the show, Katherine McNamara posted a side-by-side photo of herself when they began filming and one of when they ended. She said her character, Clary Fray, taught her to be “scrappy, strong, compassionate, courageous,&practically imperfect in every way. [sic]” She thanked the fans “for loving [Clary] as much as I do.” *Weeps*

Alberto Rosende, who played beloved human-turned-werewolf Simon, took to Twitter to share how proud he is of the work he did on the show for the past few years. “I can’t believe today is the day,” he wrote. “Many feelings are coming up but mostly pride. I am proud to have been your Simon. I’m proud of [the] journey we have all taken together. I’m proud of the growth we all experience with the show.” Kat responded to his tweet, saying, “Love you always, Lewis.”

Brother of Bay Watch‘s Alexandra Daddario, Matthew Daddario, promised the last episode will “make you feel some kind of way,” noting that we’re all excited and “maybe nervous. Probably terrified.” We have only one thing to say to Matt: getting to stare at your face every week for the past three seasons has truly been our pleasure.

Matthew’s on-screen sister, Emeraude Toubia hasn’t posted her own words to Twitter yet, but she did RT Matthew and Alberto, giving their words her official stamp of approval.

Dominic Sherwood hasn’t posted for the grand finale yet, but he told Metro that this upcoming episode would bring back character we, the audience, haven’t seen in some time. We truly can’t wait to see who, in particular, he’s talking about. “Actually, [filming at] the Institute was really lovely because it was the last day of filming for everyone of the show. We wrapped the entire show in our main set which happened by accident but it was a nice, emotional moment for everyone.”

It’s a sad day for Shadowhunters fans everywhere, but at least we know we’re all in this together. Now go, grab your box of tissues and some extra Twizzlers and popcorn because tonight’s going to be a tough one!
