Vampire Diaries Star Steven R. McQueen Will Be Coming Back for Spin-Off Legacies

Ever since they announced the second Vampire Diaries spin-off show, Legacies, we’ve been excitedly collecting every piece of information we can about the upcoming CW show. Where would the show take place? Who would it center around? And which of our favorite TVD and The Originals actors would come back to reprise their roles on the new show?

Along with Matthew Davis, who played Alaric Saltzman, Zach Roerig, who played Matt Donovan, and Daniel Gillies, who played Elijah Mikaelson, it appears that Steven R. McQueen‘s Jeremy Gilbert is returning to Mystic Falls during Legacies‘ premiere season. While it’s not a regular role (yet! We hope), it’s been confirmed by TVLine that he’ll be on at least episode three.

This news comes as a bit of a shock considering Steven decided to leave Vampire Diaries after season seven and then returned only for the series finale. But we can’t wait to see Jeremy Gilbert back in action! Years down the line, who knows what he’s up to?

However, Julie Plec, the creator of this universe, has teased the return of many characters on several occasions, most recently when she was at Comic-Con. She spilled to TVLine, “We’re integrating [classic characters] into these scripts, and when the scripts are done, we’ll call [the actors] and say, ‘Hey, do you want to come do this?’ … There are already three names from the two shows in the first five scripts that we reference, if not see.”

She also told Entertainment Weekly, “What I have said to everybody is like, ‘I would love to see any faces that we can see over the long course of the series,’ not as a way of being cute or gimmicky, but because they’re part of the universe.” We have a feeling other fan-favorites like Caroline Forbes will be back on screen in no time! (Julie feels pretty confident about Candice King‘s return as well, PS.)

Legacies premieres on Thursday, October 25th at 9/8c on The CW.
