Whitney Port Says She Tried To Convince Lauren Conrad To Join The Hills Reboot
It’s been over a month since MTV announced that The Hills: New Beginnings was officially happening, but still, it remains unclear if Lauren Conrad will return. Though sources say she has no desire to come back, fans are still hoping she might reconsider. Whitney Port is one of those people. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the reality star revealed that she’s trying her hardest to convince her former co-star to carry on The Hills legacy like the rest of them.
“I get it. We’re all at different points in our lives. Most of us have young families and everybody needs to protect their families in the way they feel is right,” Whitney told THR after the topic of Lauren not joining the reboot came up. “I don’t judge Lauren for not wanting to do it.”
“I have tried to convince Lauren through people,” she continued. “I haven’t gotten directly to her but I recently spoke to one of her friends and I was like, ‘Tell her to do it!’ Who knows? Maybe she’ll say yes in the future. I feel like the door’s always open.”
We’re holding out hope that she might eventually say yes, too. After all, we seriously cannot imagine the reboot without Lauren. However, we also understand why she might not want to join. Just like Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola argued when Jersey Shore announced its revival, Lauren wants to keep the past in the past and joining The Hills will undoubtedly bring it up again.
As most fans of the show will know, Lauren and the gang were involved in quite a lot of drama. Who can forget her and Heidi Pratt‘s “You know what you did” fight? Lauren yelled the famous line in the first episode of season three, which aired in August 2007. The feud continued throughout that season and was ultimately the reason Lauren left the show. We can feel the awkward tension like it was yesterday, but can you believe it’s been 10 years since Lauren and Heidi went their separate ways?
Ugh, we’d love nothing more than to see them hash it out and become friends again. However, that seems pretty unlikely. “[Lauren]’s in a different place in her life,” the source told People in August. “But she wants everyone to enjoy themselves. She wishes everyone the best.”
As for what we can expect from the reboot, Whitney said it’s going to be very different this time around. In other words, the show will be a lot less scripted and much more authentic. “There’s enough going on in our lives at the moment that they’re not going to have to make anything up,” she said. “What’s cool about the reboot is it’s going to be a slice-of-life type of show.”
According to MTV’s description, the series will follow the original cast members, their significant others, children, and friends living and working in Los Angeles.
