Scarlett O’Hara (Gone With the Wind)

Scarlett O’Hara is the oldest IT girl on this list, but she’s still a prime example of the trope. She has all the boys fawning over her, and she’s also got the kind of fiery personality that makes her feel entitled. Part of Gone With the Wind‘s story, along with a glorification of the antebellum South, is about Scarlett’s evolution into a more humble person.

Scarlett never loses her inherent appeal, though. She’s beautiful and gregarious, and willing to take whatever she wants. She was an IT girl in a time before that phrase existed — a southern belle with more intelligence than she let on.
