20 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets of Lord of the Rings
Most of he Original Fellowship got Matching Tattoos
The bond formed between members of a cast is often quite deep. That’s especially true when you’re together on a shoot for almost a year. The cast’s bond during their filming in New Zealand led them to get matching tattoos. Each of them got the Tengwar, the Elvish character for ‘9’ tattooed somewhere on their body.
John Rhys-Davis, who played Gimli, was the only member of the group who opted out. The rest of the fellowship have the tattoo somewhere, and some of them are even visible in other movies that they were cast in afterward. For example, Orlando Bloom‘s is briefly visible in Pirates of the Caribbean.
