20 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets of Lord of the Rings
More than 1,800 Pairs of Hobbit Feet were Made for the Film
Hobbits are strange creatures. They’re obviously short, and they also have no use for shoes. Instead, they walk on their massive, hairy feet. Of course, the actors who play the hobbits don’t have those same feet, so they had to be attached as props. These feet even put the films in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The film made over 1,800 sets of feet and the moldings couldn’t be removed because of the high-quality adhesive that was used to attach them. That meant they had to be torn off every time they were removed. The actors playing hobbits also had to show up early to the set since they took roughly 90 minutes to put on.
