40 Things You Never Realized About Ron & Hermione
The Reason for Their Kiss Changes in the Movies
In the books, a major part of Hermione’s character is her commitment to an organization she founded called S.P.E.W. This organization was created to defend the rights of house elves, creatures who literally don’t care at all about their own wellbeing. When Ron and Hermione finally kiss in the books, it’s because Ron finally shows some concern about the house elves.
In the movies, the reason for the kiss is simplified. The two simply kiss after they destroy a Horcrux together. That’s certainly a harrowing experience, but it doesn’t prove that Ron cares the way his display in the books does.
